Racing Point’s Otmar Szafnauer: “We need to appeal it because we stayed completely within the regulations”

Otmar Szafnauer continues to dispute the decision to penalise the BWT Racing Point Formula One Team for running with brake ducts allegedly designed by the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team, feeling that his team has done everything legally. Prior to the start of the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix weekend at Silverstone, a decision was reached by the FIA following a protest by the Renault DP World F1 Team about the legality of the brake ducts, with the protest coming out in Renault’s favour. The FIA deemed that Racing Point had not designed their own brake ducts for their Mercedes-inspired RP20 and fined the Silverstone-based team 400,000 Euros as well as deducting them fifteen points...
