Pirelli surprised by banning of party mode: "We found out by the teams"

For many teams, the announcement that the FIA is going to ban the 'party mode' of the teams came as a surprise. Everyone expected that if there would be changes, they would come in 2021 or 2022. However, the FIA has decided that it will apply from the race in Belgium. It also came as a surprise for Pirelli. "We didn't actually find out until the teams told us," explains Isola to Auto, Motor und Sport. Because of the upcoming changes, other measures do not have to be taken. Isola indicates that they had measures ready to counteract the high pressure on the tires.
