Hamilton on course to match Schumacher record at Ferrari's Mugello circuit
Lewis Hamilton is on course to match Michael Schumacher's record of 91 F1 victories at Ferrari's 1000th grand prix, hosted at the Mugello circuit owned by the Italian team. Mugello is hosting its first ever F1 race on Sep. 13. The race is being held to commemorate Ferrari's milestone but Hamilton's current form suggests it might be historic for another reason. Hamilton has won six of the eight races this year and holds a comfortable 48 point lead over Max Verstappen. His Belgian Grand Prix was his 89th -- he can claim a 90th at Monza's Italian Grand Prix on Sep.6. If he does so, he will look to move level with Schumacher at Ferrari's circuit seven days later.
