Valtteri Bottas asserted that Esteban Ocon’s error during Q3 at Formula 1’s Tuscan Grand Prix cost him a realistic shot at taking pole position. Bottas fronted all three practice sessions at Mugello and was embroiled in a close battle with team-mate Lewis Hamilton during qualifying. Bottas topped Q1 by just 0.029s while Hamilton was ahead in Q2 by a mere 0.013s. Hamilton led the way through the first Q3 runs by 0.059s but then failed to improve on his second push lap.
