Alonso ‘would like to say yes' to third world title

Fernando Alonso “would like to say yes” that he is returning to F1 to win a third World Championship – but is “aware of the limitations”. The Spaniard has signed up for a third spell with Renault starting in 2021, going back to the team with whom he captured his two world titles in 2005 and 2006. At present, Renault are very much a midfield team and still chasing a first podium finish since Nick Heidfeld bagged P3 at the 2011 Malaysian Grand Prix. Alonso obviously wants to compete at the sharp end when he makes his comeback after two years away and realises the sport’s new regulations in 2022 will offer the best chance to do that.
