Alfa Romeo-linked Pourchaire, 17, steps up to F2

Formula 3 runner-up Théo Pourchaire will make his FIA Formula 2 Championship later this year in the double-header finale in Bahrain. Pourchaire, 17, stepped up to Formula 3 as the reigning German Formula 4 champion and emerged as a title contender. The Frenchman took the Formula 3 title fight to the final race of the revised campaign at Mugello against Renault junior Oscar Piastri, missing out by only three points. Pourchaire will occupy the HWA Racelab seat that was vacated by MP Motorsport-bound Ferrari junior Giuliano Alesi and briefly held by Formula 3 veteran Jake Hughes.
