Mercedes installs countermeasures after Nurburgring failure

Mercedes has implemented measures to avoid a repeat of the failure that caused Valtteri Bottas to exit the most recent Formula 1 event at the Nürburgring. Bottas dropped from pole position to third at the Eifel Grand Prix following a pit stop triggered by a heavy lock-up but was still on course for a podium. But his Mercedes W11, which was equipped with a fresh engine, started to lose power and he was retired in order to prevent further damage to the car. Mercedes initially suspected that an MGU-H issue was to blame but later concluded that a failed component within the Control Electronics was the cause.
