Bottas fastest as Formula 1's Portuguese GP action begins

Valtteri Bottas led Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton as Formula 1’s first Portuguese Grand Prix in 24 years got underway on Friday. Formula 1 is competing at the Algarve International Circuit, also known as Portimao, for the first time, as part of the revised schedule implemented due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Formula 1 last raced at Portugal in 1996, when the Estoril Circuit, located close to capital Lisbon, was utilised. Warm and sunny conditions prevailed for much of the 90-minute session.
