Demaison leaves VW for new role with Williams

Francois-Xavier Demaison has left Volkswagen after over a decade to become the new technical director of Williams. Demaison was an integral part of the hugely dominant Polo R WRC car which won four consecutive World Rally Championship cars from 2013 to 2016, before becoming Volkswagen Motorsport's technical director where he was responsible for all of VW's motorsport projects. But now he has decided to start a new challenge with Williams as their new technical director and ‘will take overall responsibility for the technical operation of the business including the design and aerodynamic functions', according to the team.
