Williams axes team principal in ‘internal restructure'

Simon Roberts Williams has confirmed the departure of team principal Simon Roberts as part of a restructure of the Formula 1 operation. Roberts took over the role following Dorilton Capital’s acquisition of the historic squad last August, having joined as managing director two months earlier. According to a statement, the Englishman 'will leave the team as a result of an internal restructure'. Initially appointed to the role on an interim basis, he was rolled into the position permanently from the start of 2021.
