Rumour: FIA abandons tyre rule for qualifying

Formula 1 has reportedly scrapped the Q2 tyre rule in qualifying. That's what some observant Formula 1 followers on Reddit claim after digging into the new rulebook. The drivers who qualify for Q3 in the qualifying session have to start on the tyres with which they drove the fastest time in Q2, according to the current rules. Many teams find this unfair, as it gives a big advantage to the teams just outside the top ten. They have a free choice of tyres for the race.
