Hamilton retains lead in World Championship standings thanks to half points with current result

The race is currently still under red flag, but given the heavy rain more action on the Spa track seems almost impossible. The lack of laps means that half points will be awarded at Spa. With the half points the gap between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton in the championship has been reduced, but the seven time World Champion will head for Zandvoort as leader in the World Championship. The difference is reduced to three points. George Russell will score nine important points for Williams, which almost assures them of eighth position in the championship.
