Ricciardo on his ‘sick, raw' run in Earnhardt's Monte Carlo
Driving Dale Earnhardt's iconic 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo around the Circuit of the Americas as reward for his Italian GP win, Daniel Ricciardo says it was 'sick, raw and foreign'. Joining McLaren at the start of this season, Ricciardo made a bet with the team's CEO Zak Brown that if he put his MCL35M on the podium, he could have a spin in 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR stock car. Ricciardo races the number ‘3' because that was his hero Earnhardt's number. Never mind a podium finish, the Aussie went one better as he won this year's Italian Grand Prix, leading home his team-mate Lando Norris in a McLaren 1-2.
