Sainz on striking question: 'I was surprised'
Carlos Sainz made the switch from McLaren to Ferrari at the end of 2020. With the Spaniard, Ferrari got a driver who will have to ensure constant performance in the coming years. It was not a complicated choice for Sainz to go to Ferrari. The Madrid native started as a teammate at Toro Rosso in 2015, followed by periods at Renault and McLaren. In the latter team he performed excellently, which led McLaren to hope that he would stay. However, Sainz decided otherwise when Ferrari showed interest and informed his team that he wanted to leave for the Italian racing stable.
