Lack of tyres at Pirelli sparks discussions between F1 teams
Article To news overview © Pirelli Formula 1's switch to 18-inch tyres for 2022 means that the old 13-inch tyres are no longer in use by any of the teams for racing purposes. With Pirelli's tyre testing programme moving entirely to 18-inch tyres, it means that planned production of the older 13-inch tyres has come to a halt. But that doesn't mean the demand for the increasingly scarce tyres has dried up just yet. The 13-inch tyres will likely be needed by teams for some time, given that they often carry out private tests with older cars with junior drivers, as well as promotional events.
