Red Bull owner sees Verstappen as ‘very deserving’ champion – Horner

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has said that co-founder of the company, Dietrich Mateschitz, is “proud” of the efforts by the team in 2021 as Max Verstappen claimed his maiden world championship. The Dutchman claimed 20 race wins and 18 podiums en route to snatching the title away from Sir Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. However, the extraordinary finish was not without controversy, as Mercedes felt aggrieved that a controversial Safety Car restart by race director Michael Masi had cost the 37-year-old his record eighth championship.
