Damon Hill believes that drivers should be able to decide for themselves whether to wear jewelry and piercings. The 1996 world champion himself drove with a gold chain in F1 and, according to him, had never taken it off. The new race directors Niels Wittich and Eduardo Freitas brought forward the ban on jewellery and piercings this year. That rule was already in the F1 rulebook but was not actually enforced. After much resistance from the drivers, the FIA now seems to agree to the drivers' wishes after all, and Hill is very happy about that.
