Fernando Alonso started the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix from second, finished in seventh, as a post race time five-second penalty saw him drop to ninth. It was a dreadful race for the two-time Formula 1 World Champion, who was superb to qualify second on Saturday, but an array of strategy errors under Virtual safety cars and engine troubles mean he finished seventh.
