Alonso reflects on why he first left F1 amid Vettel retirement

Article To news overview © Michael Potts / RacingNews365 Fernando Alonso has been reflecting on why he chose to walk away from F1 at the end of 2018, amid the news that Sebastian Vettel will retire from the sport following the 2022 season. Alonso decided to leave Formula 1 at the end of a largely frustrating stint with McLaren, and went on to compete in various other categories of motorsport, which included the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indianapolis 500 and the Dakar Rally. However, the Spaniard opted to end his F1 hiatus by returning to the sport in 2021 with Alpine.
