Mercedes trial biofuels on race trucks, reduce CO2 emissions 89%

Mercedes announced the results of an experiment where they used biofuels to power their transport trucks in the final leg of the Formula 1 season, achieving 89% reduction in CO2 emissions. With F1 pushing towards a more sustainable future evident from the direction the sport has taken with its engines, now known as power units that are made up of turbocharged and downsized 1.6L V6 Internal Combustion Engines, that work along an electric component in a hybrid setup, with limited amount of fuel being mandated. In 2022 F1 has introduced fuel made up of 10% Ethanol, with sustainable fuels being planned for the next generation of power unit set to make their debut in 2026. Many teams have...
