Red Bull and Aston Martin set to rock F1 with rumoured budget cap breach

Ian Parkes Friday 30 September 2022 11:15 - Updated: 11:18 Red Bull and Aston Martin could potentially find themselves in hot water with the FIA as it is rumoured both teams breached last year's budget cap. The cap was introduced ahead of the 2021 season as a way to try to level the playing field for the 10 teams in F1, forcing the heavy spenders in Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull to be more financially prudent. Last year, the cap was set at $145million, although the teams were afforded extra payments due to the addition of three sprints for the first time in the sport's history.
