Toto Wolff admits he was blindsided by James Vowles

While Mattia Binotto’s resignation from Ferrari started a domino effect of team principal moves in the paddock, Jost Capito’s departure from Williams took everybody by surprise. The announcement that their team principal would be leaving came in December and it took until late January for Williams to finally appoint a replacement. The man that has replaced Capito in charge of Williams is James Vowles, Mercedes former strategic director, who had been with the team since they entered the sport in 2010.
