Former Formula 1 driver Jean-Pierre Jabouille (80) has died

Former Formula One driver Jean-Pierre Jabouille has passed away at the age of 80. The Frenchman was at the start of a Grand Prix 49 times, of which he managed to win two. Article continues under ad Jean-Pierre Jabouille has died Jabouille made his F1 debut in 1974 at Frank Williams Racing Cars, but failed to qualify. Later that year, an attempt at Surtees was also unsuccessful. In the following years, his F1 career took off after a move to Tyrell and then Renault. With Renault, Jabouille managed to win two races, culminating in his home GP in France in 1979. In doing so, he became the first F1 driver to win a race in the turbo era.
