  1. Happy Birthday, Shampion!

    Enjoy your day!!!!
  2. Fota, Mia

So, FOTA is no more, as without Ferrari and RBR it's just Whitmarsh and the seven dwarves. Not sure how that will affect the sport in the short term, though, as the Restriction Agreement will still be valid until 2017 as far as I understood. My guess is that no blood will be actually shed. Anyways...comments?
  3. Le Mans

Finally Toyota broke the curse. History at Le Mans, even if a Toyota win was more or less expected if the cars held up, which they did. But it was a magical Alonso, of course, with a night stint that will be remembered, faster on his first appearance than even his very experienced teammates that was crucial for car #8 to finish ahead of its sister car. Congrats!

  5. So, first two practices are over. The cars look gorgeous at night. In a surprising plot twist, the Mercs are on a league of their own, a second ahead. It's deja vu all over again. Pros: LH and NR seem closer in performance than the MW/SV couple, so at least we will have two cars racing at the front during the championship if reliability permits. Cons: Nikki Lauda and Toto Wolff are even less likeable than the obersturmbannführer Marko and Christian Spice duo. What's even worse, having Lauda and his nonsense does not mean that Marko stopped spewing his own. His latest comments on Webber want me punch him in the face. And then punch him in the face some more. Pros: Neither Lewis nor Nico will sound as annoying as the yahoos and "that's how it's done" from Seb. Cons: The press hype will mean that it won't be long before we will be forced to watch 2 hours specials about Roscoe and his love life. Pros: God save the Queen is a lot better than the Austrian anthem. Cons: we will keep hearing Deutschland über alles till the day we die. And now for something completely different: Kvyat is officially my new favorite rookie (sorry, K-Mag, I was never a fan of your father and your head has a funny shape), Hulkenberg and Nando are battling even during practices, I like that.
  6. Every once in a while Alonso makes a good career decision. And when he does is good news for motorsport, as he is one of very few motorsport legends still active. Daytona was witness of that. Both his stints in the dry and under an atrocious rain were fast, relentless and technically almost perfect. They should rename the chicane to "Alonso's Chicken", he was THAT good outbreaking everybody else there. My recommendation, go get some highlights of the race. You won't be disappointed.
  7. Guy Ligier Dies

http://www.speedcafe.com/2015/08/24/former-f1-team-owner-guy-ligier-dies/ It was the 70s. An age so modern that people walked every other week on the moon, now we only get to see that in sci-fi movies. So modern that popular music was as complex as classical music, now "Blurred Lines" is praised for its "harmonic complexity". An age so modern they didn't have puny tablets that can only play stupid games, the had badass mainframes that filled entire floors in universities, and could only play stupid games. I was a little kid by then. My golden locks cascading below my waist. My family (grandad, uncles, father) always watched F1 on sundays. I went to grandpa's every other sunday and played with my toys while watching those cars on the big black and white screen. They loved Lauda, they loved Emmo, they argued and screamed at the screen. They told me about those red cars, that it was actually fun watching cars running endlessly in circles for hours. But I immediately fell in love with one car. One. Car. It was ugly as fukc, a distorted pic taken with some big lens of a regular f1 car. It had more in common with the Titanic than with the Ferraris 312T. Of course, I am talking about the Ligier JS5. And yes, 26 was always the number. Jacques Lafitte, my first hero (well, perhaps my second after Emmo and no, I never warmed up to Reutemann) Ugly as it was it had personality. Aftewards it got much better, their next car was already one of the most beautiful ever, and they continued to produce cars that were closer to works of art, even if not always succesful. When I grew older and decided that I was stupid enough to start smoking I bought Gitanes, and stuck to them until I quitted (some Marlboros as well, but Senna didn't have anything to do with that, just that I could not find Gitanes here). If branding and all that BS ever worked with me, that was the time. I was not lighting up a Gitane cigarette, I was lighting up a Ligier, I was not coughing with the awful smell from tobacco, it was a Ligier's exhaust fumes. I was not blowing smoke, by the way, I was blowing Jacques Lafitte. No, wait... Anyways, this Guy Ligier was responsible for my first love for F1. He was also one crazy mother****er. The kind that, had he be around nowadays would be called an obnoxious b#####d but, with as with other b#####ds (Hunt comes to mind) is remembered as a "colorful personality" Bon voyage, Guy.
  8. Race 10 - F1 2018 BRITISH GRAND PRIX

    Another masterclass by Alonso.
  9. 2018 F1 season - discussion

Translation: Some voices in English have started saying that Ferrari is about to be excluded from the Championship, as if they were caught in the act.
  10. WEC 6 hours of Spa

Another great display of talent from Alonso y FP and qualy. A comfortable lead so far (less than 2 hours into the race), a long way to go, but encouraging, nonetheless. Gotta love his fighting spirit.
  11. WEC 6 hours of Spa

Indeed. And there were many former drivers (Vergne, Nakajima, Kobayashi, Senna, Buemi...) It was great watching Pastor Maldonado.
  12. WEC 6 hours of Spa

    ...and he won!
  13. WEC 6 hours of Spa

Lol. Alonso always give us reasons to celebrate, that's why we are fans. Cars aside, watching him drive even those awful McLaren Hondas was a thing of beauty. And his Baku race this year was epic. Now... if we talk about Kimi...

A brilliant start. We can hope again.
  17. 2018 Ferrari SF71H

This is very serious. I doubt FIArrari will lift a finger to ban these exploits, though. Sad.
  18. Mclaren-Renault

    Looking good .
  19. Mclaren-Renault

McLaren adds a sponsor to its halo and its Gandys. A flip flop manufacturer. Theres a connection somewhere...

The most beautiful human drama on Earth is just a few days away.
