The ESPN list IS flawed.

But I agree with a lot of their drivers. I've seen worse.

1: Danica Patrick!!!!1111@!@#!@#!oneeleven!

2: Jeff Gordon

3: Kasey Kahne

4: Dale Jr

5: I don't know more than 4 drivers

If I had to violate my religious beliefs and make a top 25...

1: Mario Andretti

2: Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

3: AJ Foyt

4: Michael Schumacher

5: Jim Clark

6: Ayrton Senna

7: Tony Stewart

8: John Force

9: Richard Petty

10: Steve Kinser

11: David Pearson

12: Jeff Gordon

I'd stop at 12 because I really don't care enough to finish. Insert 13 Indy 500 heros, NASCAR legends from 1950-1990, and Alan Kulwicki and we have a list.

Well, each to their own. But I really don't want a pint of what you're on Eric :P

Lists like this are always very good to look at but the trouble is they are not very subjective

Contributors are likely to be biased towards their own favourites, hence some seemingly strange inclusions and similarly as times goes on, older drivers may got forgotten about.

You mean objective, I agree with you.

I agree. I've said 1000s of times how pointless I think lists are.

But...I think this is a solid list. The order may be off, but I think that they have most of the top 25. There's a few they're missing, but then again, there's been 23894723897348957348579827385 racecar drivers in the history of the world; picking 25 means you have to leave out a lot of them.

Best damn driver: Mario Andretti

Best damn stock car driver: Dale Earnhardt

Best damn open wheel driver: Jim Clark

Or something like that.

Senna will always be the king of open-wheelers for me. Y'know when he did his CART test back between 93 and 94 he was actually almost instantly setting amazing lap-times. The man had so much raw speed it was dangerous, he won 5 races in a fairly poor Mclaren with an old sportscar block in the back, he took pole at Suzuka 89 by over *two seconds* and had so much raw speed it was dangerous. I'm not saying that he far outstrips the other greats, (Prost, JYS, Clark, Fangio, Schumacher), he's just the one that had the most visually impressive talent and talked-about abillities for me. People will remember Senna long after they've forgotten the Schumi era.

Any other form of racing I'm not too qualified to comment on, I feel.

I'm just a biased son of a bitch and could never say someone who didn't win an Indy 500 was the best open wheel driver.

But at least I can admit that.
