Der Regenmeister

With the latest win by Lewis Hamilton in British GP, can we consider him as the new Rainmaster???Is he better than Alonso in the wet???

But for point of view, the yesterday British GP is not so special compare with the Donington 93 or Spanish 96 or Monaco 97....isn't it?

Too early to really tell, but Lewis is a good chance to be ranking up there with the great wet weather drivers with performances like Silverstone 08. Give me a few more samples and i'll come back to you with a definate answer.

Yes. He is the new Regenmeister. Yes, he is the new Senna/Schumacher/Judy Garland. He was also making one of the stupidest mistakes in F1 only a month ago.

Button won in the wet once, remember? He was also saluted as the new Regenmeister/Senna/Schumi/Judy Garland.

If you guys would stop trying to make a god out of him for a minute maybe, just maybe, he would focus more on delivering great performances instead of the emotional rollercoaster everybody goes through with him, from the new jesus to the arrogant idiot (it was being called like that just a couple of days ago!)

That's funny, thank you.

Hamilton may be the best driver past, present, and future on rain but, in order to show it, he would have to actually compete against an able field.

This GP was a walk as have been most others this season. One of the top driver wins easily because all others have gone fishing...

More bollocks.

Remember Jerez when Schui drove superbly in the rain - was that because all the other drivers were crap? No.

I'm not suggesting for one minute that Lewis is a new Regenmeister - as has been said already, we need to see a few more races of how he copes in tough conditions. And recently he has made a lot of stupid mistakes.

However, take yesterday's race in isolation and I think its fair to say he drove well. Jury still out longer term.

Oh and blah, blah, Hamilton, blah.....

Judy Garland was in F1? :o

I must have missed that race..... :D

Exsqueeze me?? Are you trying to take away the only thing the British are good at with regards to our sports people???

Lewis is pretty handy in extreme wet conditions (Nurburgring 2007 not permitting!), but not on a drying track. So, he's 50% rainmaster.

I think one would need to be in F1 for a few years at least, to be considered a rainmaster.

Monaco and Silverstone have been outstanding for Lewis, whilst everyone else (except Heidfeld yesterday) faltered.

Even my man Button, who I thought was a rainmaster, especially after his amazing skills in China last year!

Lewis is called all kinds of names these days but its too early to say he's the 'rainmaster' of F1!

Agreed.

Though, all the wet weather specialists have had DNFs in the wet, or poor races in the wet too, it's just the nature of the beast.

His win yesterday definately reminded me of that Senna win in Donington in 93. Ok Senna overtook 5 in the first lap and lapped all but 1, but Hamiltons effort was still one for the ages. Coming from 4th to 1st and then lapping all but 2 and making fools of the rest on that wet day will be remembered for many years to come. Genius.

You called? No he is not the ultimate rainmaster yet, he is certainly better than most drivers in the rain however. We need more time to tell. In 2007/2008 so far there were 5 wet races (some more wet than others), Hamilton has won 3 of them (Alonso and Raikkonen won the other two), so he's doing well.

Hamilton won: Fuji 2007, Monaco 2008 and Silverstone 2008 (all extremely wet races)

Kimi won: China 2007 (the least wet of all)

Alonso won: Germany 2007 (another very wet race)

I'd say he was probably better than Kimi in the wet, but I'm not sure if he's better than Alonso or a few others drivers (Vettel/Button etc)

Ah but is he better than you? :D

:D No one is better than me! I can actually lap a wet track faster than Hamilton can in the dry.

Wow, your hysteria's gotten so chronic that you have started to babble _at_ yourself. Hilarious.

Anyway, yours is just another absurd comparison from the lewisteric camp.

Wipe the drool and read carefully. Are you ready? Ok. Regardless of the quality of Hamilton's race, 4 out of the 6 drivers on top teams crapped out. So much so that a Honda (yes, you read well) a HONDA got a podium.

So...

Lewis is God again or God's son at least, Massa is evil crap again, Kimi is a faulty and inconsistent driver, Alonso is a boring F1 character...

Things change so fast.
