Nice. Then he got the call from OJ Simpson...

This is what happens when you cross the Poison Dwarf:

At the World Motor Sport Council meeting earlier this month, Brawn GP applied for a simple name-change. Simple it wasn't. The WNSC deemed Brawn would be considered a 'new entry' for this season.

"The contract the original team had with the FIA was to run as 'Honda', which they are no longer in a position to do," the FIA said. So, Brawn go to the end of the pit lane and draw the high numbers for 2009.

Problem is, 'new' teams cannot draw a full revenue share from F1's commercial arrangements. Swiss specialist publication, Motorsport Aktuell has brought this point to light. It reports that though Brawn could not officially keep Honda's financial status, the teams unanimously agreed that they should, in a combined effort to get them on the grid for Melbourne. However, Ecclestone vetoed the move. Consequently, BGP is 22 million euros short of it's 2009 budget target. Why did Bernie use his veto? Two words - words we usually associate with 10-year-olds - temper and greed. In February, Ross and Fry turned down the F1 chief executive's offer to help complete the buyout. I believe it was

Being British has nothing to do with it and I'm not aware that Brits in the media or otherwise hold the FIA close to our hearts - witness for example all the press around Max when he went all "spanky" on us.

FIA are incompetent, end of story. Brits, media and otherwise recognise that and take them to task. The problem is that Max and Bernie feel that they are immune from challenge, press comment, public opinion, etc. How wrong could they be.

Being of any nationality has nothing to do with anything yet we often hear that "problems" can be blamed on a team being Italian or Japanese... as if that explained anything. When that absurdity takes place, I don't see anyone complaining. Why the double standard...

The truth is that bigotry oozes out of the English media and that FIA is controlled by British. The point stands. Were FIA to be run by a similar bunch of clowns but from another country, we would never hear the end of it.

And, of course, I will grant that British denial of their own actions contributes to their continuation. See, for example, the motoGP affair.

I have come across enough denialist to know that no amount of proof will _ever_ move a bigot an inch (the victim of their kin's hatemongering is always at fault, regardless) but here you go:

Alonso demands McLaren are kicked when they are down

http://www.planet-f1.com/story/0,18954,3213_5099648,00.html

Not only it is a blatant and infantile lie that only deeply psychologically damaged morons could possibly believe, it is a demonstration of permitted and pure hatred that, ultimately, is based on nothing but Alonso's nationality.

Although I can't resist noting that it's Brits who rose to the top of F1...

I see. When it is something you consider positive, it is the Brits (as a whole) who have accomplish it...

Being you one of the unrepentant resident bigots, there is little surprise in your naive confession...

Maure your posting reeks (and I used the word advisedly) more of racism than any of ours.

Max is British, running an organisation based in France, with an international Board/WMSC. Saying FIA is controlled by the British is like saying that the United Nations is controlled by the South Koreans.

Yes the British media is appalling, but I don't see a lot of good stuff coming out of the Spanish, German or Italian press who are equally histrionic and talk utter bollocks - Das Stern, anyone? I've worked in the publishing sector and understand the calibre of many journalists - most of whom have no qualifications other than that they have an opinion and get their rocks off from writing negative crap. The problem is not uniquely British.

Face it Maure, you're just an Anglophobe. Explains a lot....

Ferrari have now joined the throng by saying they are so angry at Ross's blatant bending of the rules that they will protest after the race on Sunday.

Ross Brawn on Thursday reacted to Ferrari's stance.

"Ferrari have only woken up because someone has driven faster than them," Brawn said to the Daily Mirror.

He added: "The accusations are coming from teams who did not come up with the idea and now they are getting angry.

"For anyone who has read the rules it was quite obvious," said Brawn.

Spot on!

Good news for Brawn. They announced today an agreement with British clothing manufacturer Henri Lloyd as Official Supplier of Clothing and Footwear Technology. Nice one. At least one sticker on the car.

From Reuters:

Jenson Button is to use a new helmet livery to coincide with the debut of Brawn GP.

The British driver, wearing the Brackley based team's new white and black overalls design at Albert Park on Thursday, also showed off his new helmet colours.

Incorporating the basic design of his usual Union Jack-coloured design, the helmet now features the Brawn corporate colours incandescent yellow and black.

The un-sponsored BGP001 car livery, meanwhile, remains essentially the same as in winter testing, except with prominent 'Brawn GP' signage on the engine covers.

PS The Henri LLoyd logos may or may not be added in time.

I think Ross is trying to make a laughing stock out of all the posh top teams by having a garish yellow high-speed banana. I was going to upload images, but I can't be arsed. Wheel covers (fr and r) and Jense's helmet are now yellow.

"They call me mellow yelloooowww"

Henri Lloyd are the first partnership (apart from the others carried over from Honduh). Very posh.

Edit: I think I'll start reading previous posts for a change ;)

And I've relented on the yellow images, here:

The denials, always amusing.

First you want to make yourself believe NOW that Ecclestone does not own F1. Just go back and take a look at your own posts on the subject. Hilarious.

Then you tiptoe around the triplet that have fcked race after race for all of us (Ecclestone, Max, and Whiting) and that are turning F1 into such a monumental mess that even ritual suicide will not erase the shame out of the history books... launching yourself desperately to the claim that there is some "an international Board" that is behind it all. Twice hilarious.

But the last is best. Undoubtely. Unable to own up to the fact that, one, F1 is owned and governed by British (even Murray knows this) and, two, that violent bigotry oozes out of the British press, you come up with... what? That I cannot say what everyone here including YOU is saying because that makes me an "anglophobe". Brilliant stuff. You cannot pay for this.

If you had any sense, you would look back at the post that prompted this desperate tantrum of yours. All I said is that we know from experience what the reaction from the British media would be if F1 was run by morons other than British... I've even given you historical data. Go to the library and see what the British media had to say when motoGP was bought off.

And, you know, none of this is a secret.

Sir Richard Branson's Virgin Group is to invest in Formula One for the first time as a significant team sponsor after a deal was reached with Brawn GP whose driver Jenson Button is the surprise favourite to win Sunday's Australian Grand Prix.

The multi-million pound deal is expected to be officially confirmed in Melbourne tomorrow by Branson who is thought to be on his way to Australia. The deal is the first big sponsor signing for the Brawn team which was saved from winding up by a management buyout led by team principal Ross Brawn after Honda decided to quit the sport last December.

Until now the Brawn cars have run in pre-season testing with no commercial branding apart from the Brawn GP logo and that of the Formula One tyre supplier Bridgestone. But a senior source at the team indicated to The Times on Thurday that under the agreement with Virgin, which was being seen a huge step forward for the team, the cars will carry extensive Virgin branding, though Branson's company is not thought to have acquired title sponsorship rights.

Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One commercial rights holder, confirmed that a deal was reached in the last few days and said the size of the Virgin financial commitment has still to be worked out in detail.

The deal follows negotiations earlier this year between Virgin and Brawn, amid speculation that Branson was considering buying the Brackley-based outfit. However those discussions came to nothing a month ago when Branson said Formula One needed to be more cost-effective and would have to use cleaner fuels before he could get involved. "I think there are faults that would need to be rectified before we could go into Formula One," he said.

Where did you get this, please quote your sources, there are too many trash F1 websites. All I can find is that they entered as a new team - which is appropriate because they are a new team!

This Brawn GP hysteria is getting annoying, I guess they are the new Williams - the soul and saviours of what F1 is supposed to be. bah. Ironically, Brawn is at the helm, he will be more amused than anyone to suddenly be the object of anglophile adulation (and no I am not using that in the mauronic sense of the word).

Anyway, this year, noone will get away with this kind of crap on this forum :D This year I'll be watching..

English boss, English team, and a very English driver leading the charge (his hometown is just down the road from mine). I am certainly joining the anglophile adulation!!

Indeed Jem, unashamed BrawnGP adulation here too - I think it's a great turn of events in many ways. In fact Brawn "....will be more amused than anyone to suddenly be the object of anglophile adulation".... all the way to the bank - it sells promotional gear and raises their profile commercially.

The denials, always amusing.

Sigh - why did I go poke the troll? Will I never learn....

You said FIA is controlled by the British. FIA is a big organisation of which F1 is a small part. I was picking you up on your comment on the "Britishness" of FIA which is nonsense. Like I said FIA is no more British than the United Nations is South Korean.

As to F1, yes of course Ecclestone, Mosley and Whiting control this - but my issue there is why you pick up on their nationality specifically? It would be like saying Lewis is an arrogant black guy - what difference does it make if he is black? Three Maurons running F1, yep - I have consistently said that. I would call them idiots irrespective of their nationality. So what if they are British? And why did you bring this up?

Its not me in denial, its you Maure. Hence all the constant rants against Lewis, Ron, McLaren, Max, Bernie, etc - ooh look they are all British :o

You are a blah, blah, Anglophobic, blah :D

By the way Maure what nationality are you?

Jense two tenths off Rubens all day. Rubes is driving his boots off, as usual and had got his car sorted quickly, as usual and JB is mumbling about traffic. Well, OK, this is your last chance Jenson. Grow up, pull your finger out, dump the new girlfriend - whatever - just put the mother on pole tomorrow. Nando's already got his eye on your ride, baby.

Harsh, I think. Rubens set a fast time near the end of the 2nd session & Jenson said they had an 'issue' which meant they couldnt get out of the garage for the last 25 minutes of that session, so JB could've gone out & gone quicker, who knows, doesnt make any difference anyway really.

It does. Rubens beat him last year because supposedly, he was all sulky at driving a dog. If he isn't pumped up to the nines enought o beat Rubens now, comprehensively, then (whisper it) maybe he isn't that good afterall.

You are correct, the diiference isn't huge and it could easily turn around over the weekend but crucially, the psychological advantage is with the ageing bald guy (I mean Rubens of course, not Andres).
