And the boys on the spanners matter most...that is to say I've got their back....shame it's supporting an Aussie though...maybe we can claim him, and we can let them have the rights to pavlova or something in exchange...?? :P

Claim him, mate. It's not like you have anything else. Us fickle Brits do the same; When Andy Murray wins, he's British. When he loses, he's Scottish.

I also found out today from the same source that McLaren haven't really shut down over the enforced break. Because they are involved in their road car at the factory, it remains open and progress in the F1 division continues. My source expects them to have made a significant step up in performance over the lay off, and not just because Spa will suit them. Apparently this happens every year at Woking.

Fairly big news for the sport in that the sponsors, like the teams, have formed their own group; http://www.bbc.co.uk...siness-11158296

Also, saw this regarding the upcoming Senna movie: http://www.jamesalle...-movie-trailer/

Oh, and obviously nobody really cared that Massa didn't get a penalty at Spa for his breach of the rules at the start, because hey, it's Massa (.. if it had been someone like Alonso or Hamilton there would have been so many "bias" accusations but anyway, that's life): http://www.autosport...rt.php/id/86327

 I didn't even noticed Massa's breach (I noticed Massa's breeches which was interesting because he has such a big...but I disgress) until I read some article or comment (my grasp on actual facts is as flimsy as a red bull front wing) stating that Massa was "ordered" to miss his grid slot so as to provide a more subtle way to let Alonso through than a direct order mid race. He would "obviously" been penalised and Alonso would have had his way. How clever are they? Huh? HUH???

And to think some people can actually believe such conspiracionist bollocks... :D

 Wow, somebody actually came up with that, without any hint of tongue-in-cheek? It'd be an impressive idea if it wasn't so dumb! Then again, maybe that's what Ferrari want us to to think...

..nah, it's bollocks.

Apparently, it was Leggard who first came with that idea. T didn't watch the BBC feed but it seems they noticed Massa missing the slot and he came up with the theory.

Of course, WE know better ;) What really happened is that he missed the slot because he was yelling at Rob that his new racing suit made him itch and Rob was telling him that it shouldn't itch and that he already put him a lot of baby powder and would not get anymore unless he (Felipe) finished at least 4th. Whitting noticed the rule breach and was about to press the big red button he has to release the dogs (he has another one which says "scold LH" that does not release the dogs, but apparently releases a mild electrical charge in some driver's helmet. Nothing as bad as the dogs, but sometimes can cause said driver to make silly mistakes).

Anyways, before he could hit the red button the guys at Ferrari noticed too that Felipe was about to get a penalty so they sent an MMS to Charles with a picture of himself in the nude with a hula hoop impersonating the Queen. He decided not to act and keep his mouth shut. Regretfully, Nigel Mansell was just passing by and he saw the pic in Whitting's cell phone so Nigel stole it and started to dance around with the cell yelling "Neener neener" all around the paddock while CW was running frantically trying to get his phone back. By the time he got the cell phone back he was so angry he decided to release the dogs anyways. In his rage, he pressed the wrong button and activated the "Scold LH" instead. By some Santander-powered miracle, the storm caused an interference with the signal so the discharge was activated in Vettel's helmet instead.

Apparently, it also released an electrical discharge in Yamamoto's helmet, but nobody noticed the difference.

With inside information like this I think you should do all the race reports Andres! ;)

The FIA have made the right decision: no thirteenth team in 2011. The two remaining candidates were rejected due to a lack of budget.

If they open up for 2012, though, they really need to re-think their process. A non-refundable deposit just to be considered is a bit unfair, and waiting until September to make a decision is not particularly helpful to the teams.

And then they need to fine and permanently ban Campos for not making the 2010 grid to be consistent.

Oh no, not yet another year of endless moaning from the Brits about Dave Richards and how much he deserves a place in F1. It was enough having to endure about how great and wondrous was Richard Branson only to find out that with all his millions all he managed to do is the less interesting of the inherently uninteresting bottom teams. At least Lotus seems to be going somewhere and HRT is notable for being the best at being awful.

Dammit! I thought I liked you, Andrés! And then you go and say that...

HRT have eleven retirements/non-starts. Virgin have twelve. Both teams have two fourteenth place finishes, but HRT has a fifteenth that Virgin doesn't, and an extra sixteenth over Virgin. Not to mention Virgin's driver advantage...HRT is to F1 as Batracer is to my life.

I will never share my Viagra Hair Growth Australia with you again. :(

Lotus have left Cosworth; Lotus are trying to leave Lotus, now. Of course, Fernandes says he has the rights to the "Lotus Racing" name or whatever, but Lotus Cars will not have an ownership stake as they want to focus on North American racing operations over European ones. 1Malaysia powered by Renault for 2011, then...

It's also suggested the Renault deal comes with a driver (to replace Trulli). Petrov? He has the Renault, he has the money, he has the Blessing of Mother Russia...

Renault and Sauber have offered Simona de Silvestro F1 tests. Allegedly her performance has attracted quite a bit of interest from European companies. Reserve role and a GP2/GP3/WSR/etc. ride for 2011? Unlikely, but it would be interesting. Rumor has it she doesn't want to leave the IRL until she's mastered oval racing. It's probably the best choice to stay in the IRL to win races, but that depends on there actually being an IRL long enough for her to move up to a better ride. I don't think she could make it in F1, but at the same time, if an F1 team called, I don't know how you say no. If the IRL's there in the future, she can always go back.

Rome is confirmed for 2012; 22 races filling 20 spots (at the moment). Barcelona and Valencia, both with slumping attendance, alternating dates and giving the Euro to Rome makes sense. Not sure what would alternate/get canceled for Austin, though. I've heard Montréal and Spa alternating. I don't know what the two pay in sanctioning fees compared to others, but they are well-attended.

I think it's more likely for the teams to allow the schedule to go over 20. Magny-Cours want in for 2012, too, and Bernie's not going to turn down paying races, nor is he going to cancel existing paying races. So...

Have a feeling that HRT won't survive.

They say Villeneuve/Durango are trying to buy HRT. I imagine they aren't alone in that regard. At this point, HRT won't even last if they land the Communist PDVSA funds from 2010 GP2 Least Worst Driver Pastor Maldonado. At the end of the day, money can't change the fact the team has nothing resembling a 2011 car and ran their Monaco wings at Monza.

Sorry, but HRT has secured funding from the Skype Banking System, with the only minor condition that everytime any of their drivers presses a button on their steering wheels, instead of changing the car's configuration it will open a webpage to some viagra selling site. Nobody will notice the performance dip, anyways.

Don't be silly. Skype® Banking System have no funding to give; they promised to send me all their assets just for resetting my password! How's that for customer service?!

Gosh, between that and the $15,000,000,000,000 the First Sir Lieutenant Junior Senior Reverend Captain Prince Father Luis Benjamin Sullivan Cougar Jackson, First Order of Nigeria, Attorney General is going to wire to me soon (he said the bank was having some type of an issue; I guess they're closed until the Department of the Third Nigerian National Security Council Air Force Guard change the threat of attack down from Purple-11), I might be buying HRT soon.

So, my source left this morning for a three week trip to Singapore and Japan. He tells me the development pace (at Moo Rouge) has now stepped up a notch and gone into relentless mode. I think they sniff the danger of a resurgent Ferrari nicking points off them and maybe letting Lewis in through the back door. The form book (in pure car performance terms) says this title should be Mark's, but it's too wide open to relax.

So, he's aero factory staff, but allocated to the next two races purely to assist with hands on development.

Interesting, ta Steve.

I'd guess they're right to think that Ferrari will push like hell since the glimmer of light they'd have got from Monza - my guess is their biggest fear will come true, in that LH (or someone else) will slip through to take it from Webbo.

Your contact sounds useful - I remember the good 'ol days of ongoing development well.... tin snips, sheets of ally, chalk drawings on the floor, Araldite, duck tape and a box of Pro Plus, bet it's not changed. Much.

Yes, apparently Ferrari have switched focus from the 2011 car to bring some bits and pieces to the last remaining races of this year, I guess it's a worthwhile gamble.

But, as Eric will be keen to remind us, there's not 5 drivers in the hunt. There's 8 apparently. :P

FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry Brad. Living with a pregnant woman gets you in the mode of ignoring rantings whenever you can.

Haven't a clue if it's against the rules. It's more of a gentlemans agreement, I think.
