Bruno On His Debut Season

Recommended Posts

Just a few interesting quotes of an interview he gave, explaining how he got the seat, etc...

- No one of my family wangted me to drive. But I've decided long ago I wanted to. It took me a while, the relationship became harder, but they accepted it. Now they're happy.

- When Ayrton died, they stopped supporting me. i was 10 and I could not fight for what I wanted. I could not front them. My family had this bad attitude then towards motorsport. No one watched the F1 races anymore. My grandpa ever saw another race again.

- When I was 18, I decided I wanted to drive again and told my mom. I wasn't ready for the shaking, and broke a rib for karting to long. O broke 5 ribs in one year and a half.

- I've no idols. Ayrton is only a reference. To idealize someone is a bad way to start a career. When you idealize, you wanna be like someone else. I don't want that.

- I spoke to all teams, except Ferrari. They all wanted at least 5 million euros to sign me. I got a deal with Campos because they signed me even though I brought no money. it was the only offer I got without need to bring in sponsors.

- I'm not gonna get any money with it. But I'm allowed to have my own sponsors if I can, and I'll try to live off that. They think my surname is important and will bring them sponsors, so they let me off payment.

- Neither me nor the team know what our car will be able to do. It'd be awesome if it were a surprise right ahead, but it's very unlikely.

- I think lots of people would not want to call Nelsinho in, because they fear he'll let out important team talk after, like he did to Renault.

- I got like 3 million euro with sponsoring since 2005. The problem is you always waste more than you earn and than you plan. Motorsports are really expensive.

knowing those, tips for the second seat?

I think Vitaly Petrov should get it cos he used to race for Campos in GP2 & he's a good wet driver & if he were to race in F1 in 2010, he'd be the 1st ever Russian F1 driver! Should get more viewing over there if he does race!

Bruno Senna, Ralf Schumacher, I don't really see the difference. Senna has had an even more lack luster career than Ralf had before he made it to F1. Driving with Campos I see him around for 3 years max. 1st year its put off to being a rookie, second year to a bad car and the third year people will say, he just cant cut it and they cut him.

My Dad doesn't like him cos of the fact that he's simply a relative of the great Senna & kinda stole his name cos his Dad's last name is Lalli!

Its a pipedream but I'd love to see James Rossiter alongside him.

Is better to steal the last name than some cheating strategies the old ayrton used to use...

I suppose it bothers me just a little that he uses the name Senna only because Ayrton is no longer with us. It seems a bit like he's exploiting his uncle's legacy. He's not the first to do it, though, and I'm sure he doesn't regret it as doors would not have opened for him without it.

He's not a terrible driver, but he's never impressed me greatly. He could probably be an alright driver, but I doubt Campos will have the car.

I doubt all the teams told him 5,000,000 Euros considering Red Bull are full and a team like Brawn or McLaren are a bit out of his league, but I understand what he was trying to say.

Nelson's going to be his teammate; Bernie's said and now he has. It doesn't surprise me; Piquet brings money and moe experience than most of the names mentioned for the seat (other than de la Rosa).

Nels won't get it. Bernie likes the chaos of it, but Campos would ruin their own game if they got Nels. Plus Nels meant all teams asked AT LEAST 5 mi, so surely some others asked way more.

Well, I have to imagine Nelson has something lined up and I don't know where else it would be unless Lotus want his money or US F1 are actually real. Red Horse Racing, a NASCAR Truck team, were impressed with him, but have confirmed their driver lineup for 2010 and it doesn't include Piquet, so that leads me to believe he found work in Formula 1 (he had said it was F1 first, then NASCAR...)

It amusing how little it matters... that's what F1 has become.

I vote for a pornstar to be Bruno's teammate... would do you say, old hag Max?

Interview on the beginning of this thread is so naive and honest. When F1 machine gets hold of him he will learn not be disclose details about who asked for how much, and how much he is getting...

Though, I like his character.

Bruno will hold his end up, but I certainly don't expect him to set the world alight. I will be happy to be proved wrong. The Senna name is a powerful name in motorsport circles, I hope he does the name justice at the end of the day. Good Luck Bruno!!

I truly hope Bruno does well, he has great potential, but just try and imagine the kind of pressure he is under. Even though he is playing it cool, there must be tremendous pressure to bring the Senna name back in a good way.

Modern F1 is very unforgioving. I like Bruno, but I don't think he will be given the chance nor the time to give his best. To be fair, neither did any of the latest guys that were dropped (like Bourdais). As a Senna fan, and because of what Ayrton said about this kid, I hope he does ok and wish him the best of lucks. He will need it.

I like Bruno too, Things he showed in GP2 were promising. If he can survive the piranha's in F1 we'll just have to wait and see, but wish him all the best.

But i do think Bourdais' going was fair enough. No F1 material and always complaining bout how the car didn't suit him.

Judgement before he turns a wheel is nonsense. He's damned if he's a Senna and damned if he aint. I wouldn't even put to much importance on his previous form. Look at Kobayashi.

Let's rip him to shreds in say, June.

Yes, it was fair under the current F1. But current F1 has no testing. Of course, Bourdais didn't show much. If anything, you need to learn very very fast how to survive nowadays. Kobayashi did. Alguersuari barely so. Badoer sunk ignominiously. Now, quickness to learn is a great thing. But it means that great drivers that are slow to learn will be thrown out after a few races even if they could have been better than the quick ones. Is it good or bad? As usual, the problem lies on where do you draw the line.

Isn't Piquet a bit old? I mean, geez, he probably can't fit into the cars anymore.

On Bruno. Well, I liked the movie just fine, but why in the hell would that qualify him to drive an F1 car?
