Jv To The Kimi. Oh Yeah!

Recommended Posts

Is it time for me to begin my annual defense of my man Jacques?

It's way overdue. Give us what you have got. And I don't think alluding to his previous sucesses is the way to do it. I want you to stick your neck out and demonstrate why you feel he is a viable proposition for any team who is remotely concerned with being sucessful and then accept that I am allowed to laugh at you if you prove to be wrong and that we forget this post ever existed if I prove to be wrong, which of course I won't be.

Some of us already have back stage passes for that gig.

anyway, enough of me - mike, its crap. Its in the job description of both JV's and Button fans. Its the fire in your belly. I can respect that.

Once upon a time Jaxques was better than the best: with almost equal performance machinery he won a WDC over MSC. That´s enough for me. And please don´t let me remember what the cheating arrogant german did...

You mean take the fight with an (initially vastly) inferior car due his wet weather setup-driving skill=victories.

I think what he means is that, truth is,.....

In his day JV was fast and a loudmouth,

but in his day Shu was fast and a Cheat!!

nuf said on that story.

I kinda like all the stuff going on this year. new teams etc. It will even be fun to watch Shu again. I don't care Sh*t if he wins, looses or crashes. It's still cool to see. And I feel the same if JV is back!

So, am I to prove his worthiness by alluding to his future successes? How exactly would that work?

Exactly, you can't. So he sucks. See what I did there?

JV just happened to be in the right car at the right time. If relations between Damon Hill and Williams hadn't soured and he had the chance to defend his title in 97 JV would never have got a WDC. His subsequent career at BAR was stupendously boring. Oh, and his overalls don't fit.

As for Kimi, the only person who has made a Ferrari look slower in recent years is Badoer

"but in his day Shu was fast and a Cheat!!"

Correction, Schumacher was the fastest and most hard working and a cheat.

But every champion till the 90s and (even) beyond was a cheat.

Here's a interesting article, extract:

The problem arouse when cars were required to be weighed. Williams simply slapped on a new set of tyres - filled with water. Brabham built heavyweight components which were added to the cars when the weighing machine beckoned. Herbie Blash told me, while we were both in the waiting room of Max's office in London, each waiting to see him, "We were entertaining David Yorke, who had been Vanwall's team manager in the Fifties. He saw a couple of our men struggling with a rear wing assembly and commented how heavy it seemed to be. We couldn't give the game away, even to a guest, so I said, 'We're having traction problems, coming out of corners, so we need extra weight at the back.'"The best of the underweight scams was told me by Alistair Caldwell: "Like other teams, we had been running underweight during qualifying and it had become an open secret. We arrived for the 1981 Argentine GP and the organisers told us that every car would be weighed every time it came into the pits. Any car which stopped out on the circuit would be impounded by marshals and, afterwards, would be escorted back to the pits to be weighed.

"We sent Nelson Piquet out, underweight. Nelson set pole and then his brakes failed. That was part of the script and the place for brake failure was prearranged. I got into a van with some of the mechanics and drove out to him. Sure enough, marshals were guarding the car. We got chatting, then it occurred to me that maybe we could sort out the problem by bleeding the brakes. That way, Nelson could get back to the pits, be weighed, and perhaps go out again.

"We asked the marshals politely if we could try that. They said it was no problem so off came the front and rear bodywork and a mechanic pumped the brake pedal while pouring in brake fluid. He went too far and we heard the sound of air being pumped - all according to plan.

"I threw a wobbler at the guy who was only a youngster. He was so surprised at the extent of my fury, even though he'd been expecting it, that he burst into tears. The marshals and the other mechanics were shocked and started to remonstrate with me. 'Hey, the kid doesn't deserve that', that sort of thing. I had all the marshals and mechanics at me, except for the guy disappearing over the barrier with the rear bodywork.

"At the end of the session, the car came in to be weighed when I noticed the rear bodywork was missing. With the new rear bodywork in place, two mechanics struggled under the weight, the car was suddenly legal."

And let's get into the pop-up valve cheating that Honda was caught with in America, witch is rumored to have come from their F1 turbo era experience/days.

Or the Tyrrell lead in the tank cheating.

Fangio and Clark and Hill and Stewart and Lauda and Prost and Senna and Mansell and Schumacher and so on were all cheaters.

Dont recall Fisi being faster than Kimi at the end of last year....

Anyways if JV was to return I would find it amusing for what comes out of his mouth when it goes wrong, rather than his non driving ability.

"...This is nothing more than pure speculation," said Mateschitz. "We do not know what Kimi intends to do in one year. We have a very good relationship which makes room for speculations. "But to tell you now Kimi will be racing for us in 2011 is not serious. If Webber provides top performances this year we will not reward him by giving his c#ckpit to Raikkonen."

Australian Mark Webber has a contract with Red Bull Racing until the end of this year, while team-mate Sebastian Vettel has a contract until 2012.

Per cavallino's post above, we ought to put this quote somewhere safe.

I, for one, would like to see him back.

In 2006.... especially if one considers the fact that Nick hadn't had any time away from F1 and JV did, I didn't think "Quick Nick" was having a better season than Jacques.

One thing tech cheating carried out by the team, and the other is driver´s cheating like MSC hitting JV or DHill. You couldn´t blame a driver is the team give him a cheating car, but surely you can blame MSC for Estoril 1997.

Yeah, but 97 doesn't really count. MS was DQ'ed. So he faced his punishment.

I _smile_ at the cheat accusations. Its funny because I don't see anyone criticising Senna or Prost, or even Nelson Sr. Three of the dirtiest drivers to grace any F1 track. Yet all talented and have God-like status.

That was when men were men and not boys fighting over the hair gel though.
