In The Spotlight

Basically, I thought we'd try this. If its fail, then its fail, if not then great.

Once a week a member is picked to answer questions by other members. Nothing too personal though, no bank account details guys!

Then once the week has passed, that person picks another. And so forth.

Seeing as I'm here now, I pick Autumnpuma.

Wheeeee!

1. Why did you join this forum?

There was a distinct lack of Americans here at the time.

2. Blondes, brunettes or redheads?

Brunettes and redheads. In that order.

3. Ideal lady?

Loves racing and has a fighting spirit. One is negotiable and the other isn't. I'm not saying which is which.

4. Your most favourite sportsman ever?

Jim Clark. Hands down. He fits any definition of the word 'sportsman' that you'd care to dig up

5. If you could live anywhere in The world where would you settle on.

Hm. I love California, but....Spain. Or Ireland.

6. What would you do with 10 million bucks?

Buy an Aston Martin DB9 and see every F1 race up close and personal. Then I'd rent out a room in England somewhere and pay certain TF1 members' airfare to join me in a TF1 get together.

7. Name 5 people who have influenced your life.

Uncle Ron

Norman Rockwell

John Byrne

Dear Old Mum

Ed Garcia

8. How would you rate yourself as a person?

Getting there.

If I'm supposed to tap the next person, I tap Andres to answer the same questions.

1. Why did you join this forum?

Indeed. Why did I?

(One thing I hope it shows in my posts is the immense pleasure this forum gives me. It was love at first sight after checking the Atlas F1, PlanetF1 and F1technical. I've never been regular at any forum before. But as soon as I started reading this I thought "This is home")

2. Blondes, brunettes or redheads?

I don't judge a girl for her hair, unless she has less hair than I do.

3. Ideal lady?

One silly enough to think that I am her ideal man.

4. Your most favourite sportsman ever?

Many: Enzo Francescoli among the football players with Messi being a close second. Boxing: Muhammad Ali, Evander Holyfield. Tennis: John McEnroe, Roger Federer, Guga Kuerten, Yannick Noah, Gastón Gaudio, among others. F1: Ayrton, Fangio, Villneuve the elder, Prost, Alonso, Bellof, Piquet Sr., Arnoux, Laffitte, Andretti (Mario), Liuzzi (of course!), Kubica, Webbo, Vettel, Trulli...geez, too many, I have pretty low standards, I guess.

5. If you could live anywhere in The world where would you settle on.

As long as I live and I could afford it, I would not settle down. That's what graves are for.

6. What would you do with 10 million bucks?

No idea. Would surely afford the luxury of not having to actually plan what would I do.

7. Name 5 people who have influenced your life.

My grandad.

My two closest friends.

Alfredo Palacios (an Argentinian socialist politician)

Donald Duck. (What do you mean he is no people? Ok...Homer Simpson)

8. How would you rate yourself as a person?

Average, among the living ones. Lacking, among the loving ones. Lucky, among the loved ones. Thankfully, not among the dead ones yet.

So, if you please. Lets see if it works!

I tag...Maure. Don't make me come up with new questions. I was never good at this. Just answer the same friggin' questions!

I liked your answers, Oh Quite One.

1. Why did you join this forum?

I work 20-22 hours a day, sometimes more, and thought an outlet would do me good... a place to relax and reconsider (assumptions, research stuff, etc) while experiments run on my other computers.

2. Blondes, brunettes or redheads?

All... also bold, white haired, and dyed.

3. Ideal lady?

Any woman I've loved has been an ideal woman... regardless of whatever "flaws" they might have had. I would say a decent human being but I've loved indicent ones and they were ideal to me anyway.

So, since I'm a heterosexual male, any human being with the proper female gear would do... although part of the reason why I'm easy on women is because I've been faithfully married for decades. It frees me up to find platonic ideal ladies anywhere.

4. Your most favourite sportsman ever?

Interestingly, I have never thought about it, ... hmmm, probably a chess or go player since they are considered "sports".

5. If you could live anywhere in The world where would you settle on.

Japan which is why and where I live. I've lived in countries in four continents and Japan beats them all (for me)... and to live as a foreigner. That said, Japan tends to suck for many japanese.

The future? Can't say. Maybe Baja California or who-the-fck-knows. Somewhere warm because my woman wants so.

6. What would you do with 10 million bucks?

I had them already and gave them away. If I get another similar bag of bucks, I'll probably do the same. Moeny is not important for me... hot water, on the other hand, is a luxury I would not want to live without.

7. Name 5 people who have influenced your life.

Taoist like Lao Zi and Zhuang Tze.

The rest are many more than 5 and are all children under 6 or 7 years old.

8. How would you rate yourself as a person?

I wouldn't. Why bother. I am what I am.

Gotta pass the buck to the Dribler. He made me laugh out loud and hard not that long back.

Nice answers, Maure :)

It's 4 in the morning here and am about to watch quali for MotoGP. Your kind words are a welcome nightcap.

Otsukare-samadeSh#ta, Maure-san ;)

(It means "my hovercraft is full of eels", right?)

EDIT: the language moderator seems to find fould words in the worst possible places.

Worst places indeed. I think I've commented before that the "s-h-i-t" in "s-h-i-t-e" or "s-h-i-t-a" are morphemes in Japanese to denote politeness of all things. But hey. Languages are fun for more than one reason... In fact, a Basque friend tells me that many Japanese words have strange Spanish counterparts... for instance, he keeps laughing about a neighbour's name... Mr. Kanaya (I thinnk). Can't remember what the joke is about right now. It's a common enough name in Japan but, perhaps, the Spanish speakers around here can explain.

The otsukare samadesh-i-ta is a very nice touch, Oh Quite One san. You know how I like it when you talk to me that way... and, well, it literally translates as "good work on your back" (not). The eels and hovercraft are optional but always apreciated by the connoisseurs...
