Insider 0 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 This is just so wrong. If we absolutely must have a waggly wing then just let the drivers get on with it. Stop inventing ever more complicated restrictions on it's use. Totally agree. This is the FIA micro managing the racing element of the sport. None of their business how wings should be used. Goes to individual teams strategy calls. Diabolical!
DOF_power 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2011 I maintain that we don't have a 'passing problem' in F1 these days. We have a driver problem. The better drivers manage to pass. Like Alonso, Webber, Hamilton could at Abu Dhabi ?! I don't care about "manufacturing passing" as long as there actually will be some passing. Nobody complained about passing being artificial when the turbo era drivers of the 80s (Mansell, Piquet, Prost, Senna, Lauda, Rosberg, Villeneuve and Co.) were increasing the boost to pass. Goes to individual teams strategy calls. Diabolical! FIA has been regulating the wings/ aerodynamics since the late 60s when Rindt and G. Hill were nearly due to wings failure at the Spanish GP. The team designers/ engineers simply refused to police themselves and made racecars that endangered both drivers, team personnel and spectators.
