BradSpeedMan 6 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 some action between the Mclaren and RB 09:34 Hamilton blasts to the top with a 1m24.585s. 09:34 That's 0.6s faster than Ricciardo's previous benchmark. 09:35 But Hamilton doesn't stay there long as now Vettel does a 1m24.348s to depose him. 09:36 An instant reply from the world champion. 09:36 Hamilton improves next time past with a 1m24.468s. 09:36 It's the McLaren man's best of the morning, but it's 0.1s down on the Red Bull. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 09:37 A little preview of a potential world title battle on a chilly morning at Barcelona. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 09:39 Just for comparison, Vettel and Hamilton's pace right now is just over 3s off last year's best Catalunya testing times and Spanish GP pole time, and just over 2s quicker than last year's fastest race laps at the track. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ still a long way to go.... 09:41 In answer to those of you emailing [email protected] keen to know the exact best time from Catalunya testing last winter, it was a 1m21.268s from Schumacher. 09:41 Our current pacesetter Vettel is 3.2s off that pace right now ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Massa 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 My rule, with testing, is: If I'm not surprised, it's probably accurate (i.e. Red Bull on top). If I am surprised, it's probably a fluke (i.e. HRT on top), but I'll be happy anyway.

Ikyrotz 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 So Lotus decided to pack up and leave.... DISASTER people Definitely. Both Kimi and Romain could've used all the time they can in the car getting up to speed. EDIT: One wonders if they will test for an extra day or two next week due to missed testing this week (much like Mercedes did on Sunday due to not testing on the final day in Jerez). Massa 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 121 laps for Charles Pic: enough money for an F1 ride, but not for a haircut. Can this slob, bring back Toronto Bob. (Do you suppose I might be bitter)?
JHS18 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 Edit - actually, it was so uninteresting, I decided to delete it. Anyway OMG LOTUS PULL OUT OF F1 TEST!!!!!!111 This means their car sucks and they're going to be the back of the grid on the basis of highly regarded pre season testing guess-logic. On a more serious note - that means they're missing out on a heck of a load of testing. Should be a close fight between them and HRT...

KoolMonkey 0 Report post Posted February 21, 2012 Damn that's some bad news for Lotus, nee scratch that, Renault! I was wondering that too, by pulling out doesn't that give them 3 days of private testing under their belt now? I would imagine so. I'm sure testing at Silverstone would work since they are based in England. Maybe they are entitled to it, but won't use the days, perhaps maybe later int he year? Does anyone know anything more on the actual rules about this? It's a blow for sure, but in some sense a good call. Chasis #1 was a ripper, clearly #2 isn't. The fact they found out so quickly could mean alot of saved time down the road. As a race fan however, it's disappointing for both Grosjean and Kimi to not see them running.
