JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Noticed that Deltawing has set their fastest time straight away. They're not hanging about. A 3:42.612 - tenth for the moment, but don't get too excited till later.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 And now it has stopped on circuit.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 #7 Toyota starts to show some life going fourth quickest on a 3:31.411 #51 AF Corse Ferrari won't be taking part in this session, too much damage from Fisichella's practice chicane.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 JRM won't be chasing a time. Just doing their mandatory night laps and then parking it up. Could be a risky strategy if it rains tomorrow...
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 The #7 Toyota improves to second with a 3:27.191. We may yet see a shoot-out for pole position.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Fire extinguisher went off on the Deltawing, possibly causing electrical problems apparently.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 New LMP2 pole sitter. #46 car with a 3:39.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Another thing I love about Le Mans at night - seeing the brakes glowing hot.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Interesting stat: entire LMP2 field is currently split by 3 seconds. That's mighty impressive. Epic battle on the cards.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Under an hour to go. No change at the top, still an Audi and a Toyota on the front row. The second Toyota is currently 5th, quicker than the #3 Ultra Audi which has just spent a lengthy time in the pits.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 #29 in the wall, looks like a small amount of front end damage.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 #33 and #13 both have minor incidents at the last chicane, but there's no contact and no damage thankfully.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 The Deltawing has been recovered, but won't go out on track again tonight. Their earlier time currently puts them in 25th place, quicker than six LMP2 cars. Not a bad effort from them today.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Michael Krumm saying Dletawing can achieve a 3:39. That'd put it 13th overall and jsut ahead of the leading LMP2.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Looks like Anthony Davidson is going for a time in the #8 Toyota with little over half an hour of the session remaining. The #7 car is still sitting pretty in second place.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Davidson moves up to fourth place only with a 3:28.295 - so the current order is #2 Audi, #7 Toyota, #1 Audi, #8 Toyota.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Loic Duval in the #3 Ultra changes that to go second with an 3:26.634 - only 0.158 off pole. More cars setting quicker times - stand by for action in the last 13 minutes.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Andre Lotterer and Mike Rockenfeller improve in the #1 and #4 cars to move to fourth and fifth, pushing the #8 Toyota down to sixth now.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Lotterer does it again! He takes pole right at the end of the session with a 1:25.453! Second remains the #2 Audi with the #3 next. Wurz didn't go out at the end in the #7 Toyota and is fourth, #4 Audi is fifth and the #8 Toyota who had an engine change earlier is sixth. That could all change tomorrow though, with two more qualifying sessions. The second session starts at 19:00 and runs to 21:00 and the last session from 22:00 to 24:00 French times. HandyNZL 1 Report post Posted June 13, 2012 Fire extinguisher went off on the Deltawing, possibly causing electrical problems apparently. Well, I'll sheepishly admit to doing the same thing in the Formula Ford.....
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2012 Bit of news from the ACO today. Firstly, a new Asian Le Mans Series for next year, similar to that of ELMS. No LMP1 cars, just P2, PC, GT and GTC. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/100353 Additionally, confirmation of the 2014 regulations. No open cars allowed in LMP1 from 2014, a bit of a shame I think. I'd have loved to see an open c#ckpit Porsche, but that won't be the case. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/100351
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2012 Oh, and following its practice crash yesterday, the #51 received chassis damage. Therefore, the car will start in 56th place for the race.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2012 The second of three qualifying 2 hour sessions is about to begin. Coverage as usual on www.radiolemans.com.
JHS18 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2012 Hmm. This is going to be difficult to compare times. Last night's times have been deleted from the timesheet, so the timing is showing this as a brand new session and it'll be hard to tell if anyone's improved up the grid.
