Alonso Now To Redbull?

Recommended Posts

Alonso is not going to Red Bull I am pretty sure. I'd be very surprised if he does.

When asked Vettel said he'd prefer Kimi to be his new team mate, whether he will be or not we'll have to wait and see I guess.

I think he stays on a prancing horse.

I think so to,I think he will retire there,I think it's like this

Redbull-Vettel,Ricciardo

Lotus-Raikkonen,Grosjean

Ferrari-Alonso,Massa(maybe)

I still havnt come to a decision weather i think Massa will get the boot,if he does id expect Di Resta or Bianchi, possibly Hulkenberg to get it. Although on kimi, I read an article stating that people wouldn't be happy with his 2014 decision. How do you take that? Staying at lotus, possible retirement?

I wouldn't read too much into it. I think he was just saying you can never please everyone. Some people want him to stay at Lotus, others want him at Red Bull, so he'll get criticised whatever he does. I think he at least wants to be in F1 next year, as far as I can tell. Then again, if Lotus aren't paying him properly and Red Bull prefer Ricci for mainly keeping the peace type reasons, he could end up doing something else because he won't drive for any old team. I don't see that happening, though. Most likely is the scenario you suggest.

I've given up all hope on Massa getting kicked.

Alonso wants to not only win races (sometimes) but to win the Championship trophy. Ferrari is not showing signs of taking him there - not for now.

He's getting old and the best way to at least win another Championship is to go to Red Bull and do what Webber wasn't able to - unseat Vettel.

Besides, Alonso loves beating German champion like he did to Michael...

Alonso to Red Bull , not impossible at all - after all it was Renault that gave him 2 of his championships.

I would go to Red Bull if I was Alonso.

See, Alonso might want to go to Red Bull and unseat Vettel but I can't see that a) he can get ot of his Ferrari contract and B) Christian Horner wanting someone like him in the team.

Didn't they say thanks but no thanks to Hamilton when he came looking for a drive last year because they didn't want to risk upsetting the team as a whole with too much friction? If that is the case then no way would they sign Alonso even if he was available.

I think Kimi is going to elect to stay where he is, I don't know why I just get the feeling he will. That is possibly why people might be upset with his choice, better the devil you know and all that but not giving himself as much chance to win another championship maybe. If Kimi doesn't go to RB I think it will be Ricciardo who gets the nod to move up and join the big boys team. Good for him but not so sure it will be good for Red Bull as a whole if they want to win more championships, I'm still to be convinced he can do the business in that car, he's okay but he's nothing special from where I'm sitting.

Massa, I'm not sure if I think they'll keep him or not, I'd like to see Hulkenberg in that seat instead though if they don't.

Well here we have a not unfamiliar story in the history of Ferrari (and some would say the history of Alonso). The Ferrari boss publicly warning his star driver: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109095

To which comments does Monty-idiot refer? I post this here just because it seems a Red Bull connection might have some relevance to this.

As of today (officially) James Allison is off back to Ferrari . So next year already looks better . Adrian Newey is the emperor of F1 car design, but James Allison makes a decent Darth Vader in the dark art of making a car go quick! The only way Fernando would go to red bull is via a kind of driver swap. And young Seb knows the Ferrari is not ready..........yet.

Unless he was hurt because Nando didn't strangle the journo who asked about the Red Bull thing, then I have no idea.

The worst that Alonso has ever said about the team is that they need to improve, which is kinda obvious. And he never said it in a spiteful way, even if he had more than enough reasons to be frustrated. Always something like "We are improving, but we need more." That's so mild that is not even true (they are not improving :P)

Unlike others, he never said the car was undriveable, that he was embarrassed about his car, that he can't win with that car, etc.

For a guy considered the best of the grid, being given a car that cannot qualify higher than 5th (and Massa's qualy proved that it was not Nando's fault), the main contender against Vettel, having waited for 3 years to get a good car from Ferrari and still having to say with a smile "We are happy with 5th" is kind of heartbreaking.

LdM must have had a bad night.

I heard that Alonso was asked what he'd like for his birthday (which, I believe, is today) and he had replied "Someone else's car".

ESPN reports that Italian press reports that he said "I want a faster car"

That ungrateful b#####d! NOBODY ever in the history of F1 has said such a cruel thing about his team. Not a team player, obviously. Throwing toys out of the pram! He chocked under pressure! What a disgrace for F1.

That's it. I'm not watching it anymore. Takes time away from my porn browsing.

LdM is just p**sed that with Silvio going to jail , now he'll have to host the bunga-bunga parties. Clean-up after one of those is a b*tch ...

Now there's a great angle - a fusion of porn and F1! Pamela Anderson could drive in Red Bull.... Ron Jeremy could replace Bernie as ringmaster.... pit stops become... stops for another reason..... fill tyres with silicon rather than custard (no I realise, I'm just being ridiculous with that last comment.... :) )

Red Balls? Willyums? Force Interya?

That's a classic comment from Alonso. I really like that one, to be honest. I think it's hilarious for the truth in it.

What a world, that Ferrari scold Alonso for being as quick with wit as he is with the car before they will probably sign Massa to another extension and pay raise for being a deluded about his team as they are about his abilities.

Actually, not what a world.

That sounds pure Ferrari to me. Once again, the mist of Scuderia Schumacher masquerading as Scuderia Ferrari for a few years left the world convinced that this team was anything more than a passionate third in the WCC time and time again. The real team is in the numbers before Schumacher, and the real team is in the numbers after Schumacher. This is that real team. They've had extreme highs and they've had some lows, but, oddly enough, they seem to return to normal...

I'm not surprised Luca reprimanded him for the comment. It was incredibly dumb to do it in public, but it's not a surprise.

You have to admire the irony of it, though. I mean if the logic in reprimanding Alonso is that making such a comment is hurtful to the team in some way (which is a stretch), then how harmful to the team is publicly criticising your biggest asset? And to do so right before the summer break, when the media have too much time on their hands anyway? It just adds fuel to the Red Bull speculation and potentially destabilises the team, much more than Alonso did.

What are Ferrari without irrational behaviour and a show of passion for the team above all employees?

Not Ferrari. It's in their DNA. It's why drivers are drawn there. It's why the feeling of winning with them must align with a drivers own passion to succeed more than any other team.

Alonso's remark was misinterpreted by a team who have tradition for being grumpy if you sneer at their cars. They were kicked when down. A bit like saying your girlfriends shoes are horrible whilst not denying you have also been eyeing up another woman the very same day.

They'll all get over it, I suspect.

Apparently when asked what Ferrari should should do during the break, he replied...Pray. Very motivational to the team eh?

I think that's a typo. He actually meant 'prey' (for a new driver).

Erm ... By that you mean he's on his way out of the Scuderia ? I'd've thought James Allisons hiring would make him want to stay ... unless this turns out to be another Prost affair ?

Indeed.

And now what Rodders said. The source is the Bild, and it won't be the first time they spread malicious rumours, Alonso and Hamilton being their favorite targets. But in any case, LdM allowed this to go from a joke from a guy that has never let the team down to a public scolding the way Ferrari has't scolded any of their previous drivers, even those who were not so loyal.

Given how long Alonso has been there and how many times he's had to drive a 'less than fast enough to win the championship' car, I think what he said was pretty restrained. He must be looking at the teams with faster cars wishing he was in them as he watches some of the best racing years of his career slipping away. He should have had more championships by now, we all know that, but if Ferrari can't give him the car....... I am guessing his patience is running out. He's not getting any younger is he? That's all I'm going to say.
