Rosberg On Fric Suspension

Recommended Posts

I am not sure I am buying this. A system which almost entirely eliminates dive, pitch and roll and allows a constant ride height and it makes little difference? Lots of questions, such as why run it, then? I think what he is really saying is FRIC, no FRIC, bring it on.

During Silverstone testing, Hamilton was about 1.1s slower on Sunday than Rosberg was on Saturday. The team said Sunday was FRIC free. I know, different day, different conditions etc, but I suspect there is a second in it for MGP, probably similar for RBR, no idea about the rest.

I can't understand how they can say it makes no difference, it's like going from a tight go kart chassis to a ford falcon.

And we wouldn't wish that on anybody

What's a ford falcon?

314704-ford-falcon.jpg this is an old model from the mid nineties but the ride height should give you some indication that its like rolling around in a bathtub.

Horrible. Doesn't look like the kind of car that can be transformed into a V8 monster.

I wonder why the UK never saw that model. Perhaps our equivalent was the Mondeo.

Looks closer to what the Scorpio used to look like.

Oh yeah I remember it as the Granada. My Dad had one. Basically a big fat Sierra.

That reminds me I saw some kid in a Sierra RS Cosworth the other day in bristol. The missus was like 'what a tw@t ' thinking it was just another boy racer in a loud banger. But I appreciated what I was seeing.

Yeah, the Granada changed into the Scorpio, as the Cortina did into the Sierra, although that was a couple of years beforehand.

The Cosworth's were supposed to be a bit of a quick car for not an awful lot of money at the time.

I think the one I saw was only the 2nd one I'd ever seen.

As a teen my dream car was a ford escort rs cosworth, with the giant spoiler, and it will remain a dream as they're crazy expensive even 20 years later!

I remember sitting in the saloon version in a Ford showroom, but I never got to drive one.

I am the opposite, I prefer cars that are quick, but look understated so you can surprise everyone

Same here in Australia, rare as but I've seen a couple and man what a sight to see, gorgeous car and yeah darn expensive here aswell. Seen one once with the wing removed, why would you do such a thing?

Did the mondeo come in a 4l straight 6?

This is what I drive round in, same colour to. 100_0783.jpg

But my pride and joy is my 1989 Nissan r31 skyline.

No it's a factory colour, it's a Holden sv6 sportswagon, 3.6l v6 210kw,6speed tip tronic gearbox.

I like that colour.

The Falcon is about Granada/Scorpio size but they are unrelated.

The latest Falcon comes with a Coyote V8 with a supercharger, generating 335 kW/570 Nm or 450 bhp/420 lb-ft in the old money.

Yours for about $42k GBP.

A bit lairy.....

Anyway, Rosberg says they are coming to terms with the FRIC free car but it is quite different. With Ricciardo 0.1s off the W05 pace in FP2, there are a lot of Australians hoping he can be genuinely competitive at Hockenheim.

Over here you can't really buy estates with that kind of power unless you get a high performance Audi or Merc. A typical example of a family estate would be about 150bhp.

Mind you there's nowhere here you can use that power anyway.

It's good on the freeway, cuts of and runs at a 4 cyclinder to save fuel, then when you out your foot down, you get the power of a 6. My old skyline burns it. My old Nissan packs about 380bhp and it's naturally aspirated.

My skyline won't run on anything less than 98 octane either, but boy it's fun, could turn round a five cent piece, but yea if she gets over 3 and a half grand, she drinks it and its only a 3.0l straight six.

Hamilton is now saying that removal of FRIC will benefit him. Apparently it weighs 2kg and that will allow him to put on 2kg more muscle during the summer break.

This made me laugh: "That will be muscle, and not fat, so I can come back stronger both physically and mentally."

Is he saying he is going to put more muscle on his brain?bangin.gif
