BrisbaneAndy 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2014 With Alonso on Ricciardo's tail, RBR could have ended up losing P2, had Vettel yielded to Ricciardo. There have been a lot of articles about Ricciardo wanting No.1 status, but when you read them, the man himself talk about it possibly happening, but I have not seen him quoted as saying he wants it. Whenever a driver wins, whether it be a race or a championship, because his team-mate bent over for him, I always feel it is hollow. I doubt that Ricciardo wants to win anything because it was handed to him on a plate.
Emmcee 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2014 No one does. But of he is being help up by seb and with the possiblity of loosing his position, that's the soul reason seb needed to let him by, it's near the end of the season and yeah his gap to the front is big but not huge, couple more wins and more merc dnfs he will be right there come Abu Dhabi. I can't Beleive Redbull would risk that.
Jem of the Shire 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 Perhaps RBR were confident Alonso wouldn't get past, based on the pitwall data they had? Alonso didn't get past so in the end it didn't matter. I like Ricciardo but it'd be just wrong if he ended up winning the title due to free points being gifted to him together with capitalising on Merc DNF's rather than actually beating them. BrisbaneAndy 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 Agreed. However, if Vettel tried to let Ricciardo though, Alonso may have nipped through both of them.
Emmcee 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 Yeah I agree, but I think it's just the whole "we'll see how we go" attitude, if that's the case, they should have packed up after Melbourne. I totally understand what your saying guys but I get this vibe we aussie are trying to get shafted again. They won't help another driver unless another is out of contention, fair enough, no drama there, but that certainly hasn't been the case in the past with the team and seb. I know daniel shouldn't be gifted wins but if dan was a really getting held up in the end, then I think it's fair to make the certain adjustments concerning realistic championships. They say both drivers are still in contention, which they are, that hinted to me that there still willing to help seb as much as they can.
Jem of the Shire 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2014 that hinted to me that there still willing to help seb as much as they can. And so they should be - not if it screws dan over, but they should support both drivers, and obviously felt it was prematue to deploy team orders. I think it's jumping the gun to say seb's team-mate is getting shafted again, for me this is not similar to silverstone 2010 or multi 21 where the outcome was clearly unfair to Mark. In singapore Dan did not beat Seb, end of. The only thing in question is whether RBR should've given him that position for free, so rather than shafting him I think it's more that they made a choice not to favour him over his team-mate (yet)
maure 1 Report post Posted September 26, 2014 Here's a story I found where Christian Horner claims that both drivers are still in the hunt for the title. He also claims that IF daniel was much closer and seb mathematically out of the hunt, they would help dan, but it's a long shot he said. Wtf? Seriously, since when do teams go "ok we might go for the title if where mathimstically in for a chance" hypocritical just abit and in the one interview, lol. What a clown, is seb doing something behind closed doors with them or something? Because it seems no matter what or who beats him, the still favor seb. Should have let dan past in Singapore tbh. http://www.gptoday.c..._hopes__Horner/ Yep. I just watched the race. They completely fvcked up. The moment Rosberg was out, they should have reconsidered. And to make matters worse, we have 4 years of fairytale championships to know what they would have done if the situation were reversed. The fact is that they have backed Vettel from a losing position before. They only way they could make it worse at this point is to use Ricciardo as bait as they did Webber once. That one set a record of repugnance... which is a lot to say for F1. Webber was fighting for the fvcking championship and they utterly demolished him. There should be a Red Bull logo next to the definition of "betrayal" in every dictionary. EDIT: postpositions be darned.
