Came across this awesome footage of this epic battle between bottas and Ricciardo in the 2008 formula Renault 2.0 race at silverstone, sometimes the best racing to watch isn't at the top, watch the last lap, just epic.

How good was it? See dan trying to minimise his mistakes and trying to get on the power asap and there both sliding the cars on the limit. Can you notice how much harder the cars have to be driven when no overtaking aids are available, they look totally different hey?

Yep - I'm a purist. It's much real and clear without DRS and other craps.

Dan was the better driver in that race.

You can actually see them in the limit and not "masked" by artificial aids.

Totally hate DRS !

Another reason is that if you are the one in front and got overtaken due to DRS, there's no way you can regain your position.

Well it's aiding the car to overtake and we have seen plenty of times in the past (pre DRS) that just because your within a second of the car in front, it doesn't guarantee you that position, DRS basically does and like you said, with very little defence and IMO creates more on track weaving as there also trying to break the tow. Without Drs they don't weave as much because they know theres a chance to regain the position if they take the next corner better, now we see drivers squirming all over the place because once the car behind gets past, it's usually a few car lengths ahead so the other driver can't even take the corner better, makes no difference.
