2017 Pre-season testing

Recommended Posts

Williams is not running this morning. Stating obvious, they are in dodo land now. Incomplete testing, junior may or may not pan out, money come Dec might be a scarcity resource... So, should we focus on 2018 instead?

Mercedes is also not running their drivers.

Autosport:

Quote

2:13 No action for Hamilton today: "Electrical fault kept us in the garage this morning, so I've decided with the team not to drive today as I wouldn't have learned much. Shame not to drive but it's been a great few days. The guys have done an awesome job. Can't wait to be back in the car next week."

lol. think he was just avoiding wet weather track time

It is sad world these days when I too am realizing my deeply rooted distrust what some people or entities do say or claim. Zero credibility with me. Just because they stated something I have hardly paid any attention to that.

Whats up with this creating wet weather testing. It's driving me crazy! I mean, having tanks go around watering the flippin track!! Who made this ridiculous decision!

I just want to see F1 cars going faster and faster!

Teams agreed to support Pirelli's development of wet tires, if my memory serves me correctly.

Now that's commitment for ya

"Poor Kimi, he still has the flu ? He hasn't recovered yet, but he wanted to follow the programme & go on track"

My understanding is that Seb wanted to accumulate more distance in the new car, but obviously behind closed door decision taken - Kimi is behind the wheel, and doing a bang up job, must say.

15:08 The teams that did pull their weight this morning in the first wet running probably aren't that impressed that they are facing the same conditions again on the final afternoon of this week's track time. The urgency with which most cars went out when the track became fully dry in the morning suggested everyone was happy to see the back of the wet surface and keen to do some proper testing again.

Water is supposedly from a nearby pig farm. Must be pleasant smell to be sprayed when you follow other car.

15:31 Bottas is the only car on track, so yet again the teams are making the most of this wet running.

15:31 This is pointless.

15:41 Seems like a lack of joined-up thinking on today's wet test.
It's hardly surprising that teams have been reluctant to turn laps in difficult conditions. Spare parts are scarce. It takes time and money to produce them, and there is little point wasting that resource when new developments are likely to render your old bits redundant almost immediately. Why risk what you have to a needless crash?

Reported Plan - Upgraded engine for Mercedes in the first race.

Read that, but I have no fear. Judging from what I read, I think the Ferrari has better handling and grip to the surface

Kimi is fantastic today. Ferrari is fielding two WDC, and perhaps the very best on the current grid.

Next week we will see qualifying sim, and then we get better feel for it. I bet however that RB would liked to have put Ferrari today a peg down, and failed in that IMO, of course.
