lipstick79 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2017 Why are Honda not able to perform in F1? It can`t be because of a lack of funds - they have thrown a lot at McLaren, likely even more to end the bad publicity and deal, when they pull out of F1 again. Honda can make motor cycle engines - their road cars have not really taken off. Judging by the McLaren F1 project, they are better sicking to 2 wheels!! lipstick79 0 Report post Posted March 17, 2017 Honda should start making lawnmowers, they are currently providing an excellent lawnmower engine to Mclaren

I think it has something to do with the fact the company doesn't have any turbo cars. They purely thrive in the naturally aspirated department and have built legendary engines and cars. With the rediculous testing bans in place, how can they ever catch up? What ever ground they make, the others continuously take another step ahead. There is no way they can close the gap. Insider 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 Listen guys, whereas many of you may have seen my Cosworth suggestion as fanciful you could just check the facts. Cosi developed a hybrid along with everyone else way back, originally destined to be badged 'VW'. The German giant changed it's mind, as it has many times before but Cosi contiued the development in partnership with Ford. An interesting side note is the Zac Brown is a director and a 'save face' solution for everyone is to badge the Cosi lump as 'Honda F1'. Cosworth know their stuff, Honda are still figuring out which end the oil goes in.
Sakae 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 Honda is not in this to support Cosworth, methinks. Cosworth should support Cosworth, if they think they have what it takes. For some reason RD didn't think so.

Sakae 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 I think you have misinterpreted my post. You have suggested for Cosworth to develop the engine for Honda's money and put Honda's name on it. Not only I think Honda would be offended by such suggestion, but RD also didn't go for such idea either. Cosworth - to my best knowledge - never completed functional, and competitive hybrid PU system. You can wave British flag as much as you wish, but there is nothing in real world which proves that Cosworth has the functional unit in the first instance, and it is better than what Honda has right now. There is difference between an intent, and result one can measure and evaluate. People tinkered around edges several years ago, but today it is a new brave world about which Cosworth knows nothing about, but Honda has. I am sure when fog clears then we will know what McLaren will do. Cosworth might enter the picture at later date with someone, if Liberty will insist on dumping hybrids, and succeed at it (which I doubt that FiA let them). lipstick79 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2017 Emmcee - DON`T U think, the manufacturers have their OWN circuits to test on, away from the public eye. It`s like eating an elephant, you can`t do it ALL at once. But if you make the elephant smaller, cut it into bitesize pieces When ALL the pieces have been consumed, you HAVE eaten an elephant. Of course they TEST
lipstick79 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2017 Sakae - Cosworth DO have a completed functional, hybrid PU system They continued even when, VW changed their mind AGAIN Just nobody knows how competitive it is. In the 90`s Cosworth tuned Ford`s (Sierra, Escort) They could tune the Honda F1 engine
Sakae 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2017 Why RBR didn't go for it when they were crying blues? The answer might surprise you. Cosworth (maybe) has a hybrid engine, you say. Well, Honda (very definitely) has a hybrid engine, I say. No one knows what Cosworth really has, that's a fact.

Of course they TEST No they don't and only Ferrari does and even then, they can't run an f1 car when they like. It's up upon approval by the fia an then and only then can they run but the car has to be at least a minimum of two years old. So to answer your question that teams have there own tracks is incorrect.

lipstick79 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2017 Re:No one knows what Cosworth really has, that's a fact. >Indeed, it`s all speculation because nobody is powered by Cosworth. Sakae 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2017 Cosworth would be a first failed company which may think they have all figured out, until car gets on the track in Barcelona, and all hell breaks loose. Lets wait and we see how bad it really is. There is a lot of written, mostly negative, but Hasegawa is working on countermeasures, and hasn't folded tipi as yet. I would have in his shoes taken a step back just for this season and work on it quietly, but he has decided to continue, regardless of headlines, and adversity, day in, day out. Good for him.
