They MAY do, they manufacture LOTS of things

Bye-n-bye - McLaren Automotive (or whatever Ron calls it) DO manufacture
sensors - that ARE widely used in the pit lane

What IS interesting about the Mclaren Honda divorce.
Is that;

There are NO quotes,      from  Honda OR McLaren to support the stories

McLaren can't divorce honda yet for 2 reasons

1) Money from Honda too big to compensate

2) They can't easily lock a deal with other Engine supplier

Meanwhile Williams might be the next WORKS team for Honda

Williams F1 key to McLaren-Honda divorce?

I've read the article, and it appears to be nothing but one of endless chain of groundless articles we read these days in F1 related media. If I understood premise of that narrative, then it would be a business solution how McLaren gets out of the contract with Honda. I am not sure that I understand why author thinks if Honda, by implication, "is no good" for McLaren, why it would be good for Williams. Seems the same flawed thinking which got RD into trouble in the first place. (Lets do anything and kick Germans out). Other articles do suggest there is actually less noise at McLaren than it is in media. I find more interesting remark from PDLR, the former insider and friend of FA, who said that today at McLaren is hardly anyone left in that organization from former glory era. Just team's name is left, and maybe 20% of former employees. The author also doesn't explains which PU would replace Honda, and instead, just idly speculates as we do on this forum.

never read anywhere but why do I heave a feeling that in the near future McLaren will be bought out by a Chinese company....

There is a lot of rumors all over. From political scene to F1 racing. Black is white, yellow is pink, etc. All are new alternative "truths". Most bewildering are articles on the same page with contradictory content. I have actually seen someone mentioned the Chinese connection. But then, how many times we have seen the same about Audi, Lambo, VW, Alfa Romeo, so what else is new? New entrants might come in, but I think only after current CA expires, and only if specs will change.

BTW, today you have Porsche in headlines, but, this is all part of long range planning, rather than pulling hot coal from fire for McLaren.

Re:today you have Porsche in headlines
>This is NOTHING new.
VW - ARE often linked with F1
Under whatever badge - this time it is Porsche
Good marketing, for the company.
As Porsche have just won a series - lets create headlines for doing nothing!!

This WILL B the start of a new era.

2 NEW PU fitted.  Honda have changed how their ICE works.

To finish first, first you MUST finish
It WILL B a double FINISH for McLaren Honda.
OK it won`t B in the points, but THAT WILL come

I have a Honda lawn mower and very good it is too.

Maybe can it complete a full race distance?
Just for fun, start the lawnmower at the beginning of the race.
Will it make it till the end -2 hours later?

Opinion for technically minded

As I thought as well, and discussed in past a few months, several potential causes behind Honda's struggle are referred to in the enclosed link to an article devoted to this topic in greater detail. (Inadequate track time - as directed by FiA approved regulations - to debug mapping, fuel composition variances, etc.). There is an idea, theory, paper, and there is real track when road meets the car. Not everything always works as intended and data based on empirical or measurable evidence subject to specific principles of reasoning are needed of testing on the track.

Re:
Honda says it has identified the cause of several IndyCar engine failures and will put a fix in place to ensure it doesn't remain a recurring issue this season. Honda has suffered a spate of failures this season,

Re: Dennis departure
It merges the McLaren Technology Group - made up of McLaren Racing, McLaren Applied Technologies and McLaren Marketing - with McLaren Automotive, which produces a range of successful high-performance sports cars for the road, under the control of a new company called the McLaren Group.

By separating the entities, U R NOT putting ALL UR eggs in 1 basket.
Separate entities CREATE competition, instead of the singular!! (Supply & Demand theory)
Second is, first of the LOSERS - Ron Dennis McLaren CEO.
Which (Second ...) IS the direction of the CURRENT  Mclaren board

Consolidation of resources, if executed correctly, has its advantages, thus this "McLaren case" might not be necessarily a bad thing.

That, Consolidation of resources, appears to be the direction that Honda ARE taking.
Looking likely to withdraw customer team, Sauber.
Focusing on McLaren.
Honda HAVE until September to find a way with their performance.
I personally DON`T doubt it.
How difficult is it.
I suggest get talking to Cosworth

One can safely say, Cosworth is lacking expertise to built this kind of PU. If they would be fit for this job, RBR would have their engine mounted already. Secondly, it's too late in product life cycle. Changes are coming. Thirdly, there is nowhere written that Cosworth is any smarter than Honda, and in reality they could end up with similar problems or worse than Honda has. Lastly, Cosworth has no 100 MM to pay into someone coffers, nor they would like daily comments in the news about their product.

The direction of the door - AGAIN
Seems MORE likely

Anyway on a separate instance.
Loss-of-face in Japan IS the WORST thing.
Likely WILL have to NOT supply Sauber
IF they withdraw from  McLaren and thus F1 completely - they WILL have FAILED in F1
VERY bad thing in Japan-Loss-of-face

Cosworth PU is NOT proven because NOBODY runs it
However Cosworth DID continue their R&D developing a hybrid PU
Just sat on a floppy disk somewhere AND in the lab !!

Well, Honda also has a "floppy" and how is that working?

I know I must bore you, but let me repeat, it is (IMO) late to start for a new entrant competing in this product configuration. Active boys will kill you in performance arena. (Ask Honda).

2020+ is something else.

Indeed, as U say it IS late to START
BUT Cosworth DID continue their R&D, just NOBODY is powered by Cosworth
So it is NOT from the beginning!!!
McLaren SHOULD buy Cosworth, then give the solution to Honda
THIS IS making Honda look (VERY) bad,
The Sauber (customer) deal NOT goin anywhere
The WORKS deal likely to be dissolved

That said, the McHonda CONTINUES to show progression.
Sauber customer deal appears to be OFF
So focus on Works deal:
Alfonso delivering in Q1
SVD making it into Q3
