Alonso

2 October 2017   10:40 (CEST)  This forum is transforming into a political and xenophobic swamp, rather than a sport related space. People suffering from apoplectic fit when Verstappen or Alonso are touched without so much as a glancing reference to their questionable behavior, yet they rush to put on scoffing hats and heading for keyboards, when Vettel is in headline, and there were many of those this weekend. I counted over 15, all false as apparent from FiA post-race papers, yet a not a single withdraw, or apology for spreading subjective, hateful word, rather than news based on facts. Must be "Brexit is Brexit" talk.

"Finger boy"? Really? That's what you see? I see thinking, respect deserving young and family devoted fully grown man.

Another nice Sour-grape move by Alonso in blocking Vettel. His revenge to Ferrari for getting fired long time ago. :bangin:

It is an act representative of the man's character. Did you expect anything else? I've not. Compromising (to whatever aim) Vettel's and his former team's race must pleased him, judging from his post race comments.

Couldn't agree more.

I'm just happy to see Vandoorne kicking his butt. Just a matter of short time until the team realizes that Alonso is Washed to the pooper.

UP till now, he is covering his lack of pace by pointing at Honda. After Honda, he will have to find a new goat....

LOL, just one of Vettel's many, many, many "Blue flags, blue flags'' situations.

Of course, it was Alonso's fault, as it was crash in Singapore. :P

To repeat - some people suffering from apoplectic fit when Verstappen or Alonso are touched without so much as a glancing reference to their questionable behavior, and they rush to put on scoffing hats and heading for keyboards to vent thinly veiled counter attack. #SAD

Vettel could be outed as a neo-nazi and you would still find a way to defend him.

He has seen flags, and also blue light on his dashboard was reportedly flushing to make him aware that Hamilton is approaching, and all of that well ahead before Hamilton was close enough to overtake. These are however type of moments when his personality comes through. It should be not surprising how Alonso was praised for holding up Vettel just in a race past, despite that Seb was passing through from back of the grid, and needed every point available as a WDC competitor. Yesterday when Alonso held up Hamilton, suddenly it was "scary" situation for championship, and Alonso was reprimanded (received demerit points) by FiA. Yeah, scary - Hamilton would have to fight with an approaching RB, and we can't have that, right?

FiA's stewarding has been an object of heated discussions for decades, yet nothing much (IMO) has improved, despite all technology advancements (sensors, cameras, computers) capable to rapidly recover series of relevant precedents on various incidents. FiA's arm for F1 perhaps really needs new managers on several levels. Some people, carrying prejudicial baggage for decades, actually from ages before advent of digital age, made it cushy job for life and that's most likely part of a problem.

Alonso gets away with more than most of the other drivers, that's how (unapologetically) I see it. He receives benefit of doubt in terms of having to bear any responsibility in various incidents.  (Let Sainz and some other drivers speak their mind on that issue). His reputation as a racer, deserved or not, is blurring objectivity, how he is judged IMO. Some do not see it, some do not want to see it, and some do not think its worth their time to get involved. Silent resistance is however demonstrated when there is decent hiring opportunity available.

Coming from a Vettel fanboy this is hilarious.

So Alonso is NOT doing the Indy500 it clashes with a race weekend,  AGAIN.
However, probably as a sweetener to signing a contact extension.
Fernando Alonso is set to make his Daytona 24 Hours debut in January next year with Zak Brown's United Autosports team, sharing a car with McLaren's young sensation Lando Norris. Racer report that the Spaniard will do the race, confirming speculation that arose shortly after Alonso extended his deal to race with McLaren in Formula 1 next year. Insiders say Alonso is keen to do the iconic endurance race in Florida as part of preparations for a Le Mans foray later this year. Although there is no deal in place for Alonso to race at Le Mans on 16-17 June.
