Cant wait to see in China whether their decision to move to Renault is a good recommendation from Alonso.

Either way, TR-Honda has moved on quite well

It is definitely  a good recommendation from Alonso in my opinion. Three years and they were going no where. McLaren and Renault may have issues with their integration but I am sure they will sort it out as the season progresses. Once they sort out their cooling issues I am sure there will be more pace than they currently have.

Performance wise yes, because it could go either way but losing 100$ in sponsor money from Honda is a lot to recover.

Indeed the $100M in Sponsor money from  Honda IS a LOT to recover plus, PAYING for a PU ASWELL.
Points WIN U prizes.
ANOTHER Honda (TR) DNF !!!
Alonso NOW on EQUAL points,  in his LAST Ferrari SEASON !!
NOT even at the summer break YET !!

Fernando-Alonso-F1-news-Lewis-Hamilton-9Fernando Alonso is in the final season of his deal with McLaren and he is widely expected to leave the Britishx F1 squad.

According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol, up-and-coming Formula Two driver Lando Norris will replace the two-time world champion. The 18-year-old Norris, from Glastonbury, is highly regarded in the world of motorsport.

Alonso has grown increasingly frustrated with McLaren for not giving him a car to be able to challenge the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.

So Diario Gol say he will walk away at the end of his current deal, opening the door for Norris.

“It showed us the potential of the power unit and it gives us good motivation that with this power unit we will be able to fight if we do a good job on the chassis side,” said Alonso.

“We are not quite there yet. We need to close that gap and we need to work harder on the chassis side.

Indeed, but Hamilton is ALSO stalling on signing an extension with Mercedes.
Could Alonso B trying to get his bum on a Mercedes seat ??

Alonso being on the marketplace might inspire Hamilton to suddenly sign. It is possible he could join Hamilton at Mercedes, but that didn't work out to well the last time it was tried. I can't envision him going to Ferrari. One can only envision the team harmony created by a Hamilton/Alonso pairing, or a Vettel/Alonso pairing or a Verstappen/Alonso pairing. I don't think Red Bull is interested in paying his salary. Most likely he will stay at McLaren or go to Renault.

Alonso is VERY happy with the updated McLaren powered by Renault.
Qualifying P8
Ahead of the Hoinda`s !!!
Ahead of the works Renault,  but still
BEHIND the Red Bull with the SAME PU

The updated McLaren is NOT (yet) winning but IS making Alonso VERY happy
Alonso IS VERY happy - NOT winning
I`m NOT surprised with the ££ MILLIONS ££ he IS being paid to,
Hang around at the BACK with Honda,  and now with Renault regularly in the top 10
Surely the next target would be to make the podium

Alonso`s Mclaren powered by Renault FINISHES in the points AGAIN

Alonso could NOT even out qualify his GP2 Mclaren Honda
Qualifying in the SAME position for the Spanish grand prix

It is UP to the guy`s at Woking to come up with something now.
The McLaren IS powered by a consistent PU, the Renault is NOT spectacular
it is just consistent and reliable.

To make the car faster,  need MORE down force.
Increase the rubber on track.

The Renault PU will NEVER be flying through the speed traps even with the all conquering Red Bull
The PU were NOTHING special.
It came from Newey, gliding through the air.

If you put MORE rubber on the ground,  LESS resistance.
Add MORE wheels

With NO long straights around the streets of Monaco.
Alonso should B able to demonstrate his driving skills
in the Mclaren powered by Renault - a possible podium finish if he qualifies well !!

Possible podium is DEFINATELY now OFF
Qualified P7, the Red Bull with the SAME PU got POLE
What IS Fernando doing? His second highest qualifying in the McLaren Renault
The Renault HAS the speed,  Alonso does NOT !!

Am I missing something here ????

Like Alonso has won 2 GP titles  ok  but like does this make him the best driver in the world ?  IMHO he is washed up in F1, like all he could do was complain about Honda, when it appears to me that maybe it was NOT Honda at fault when they were with McLaren but Mclaren themselves as Honda seems to be heading in the right direction with Toro Rosso.

Personally if Alonso goes to whatever other form of racing would make me happy. He just seems to be a bloody winger that will never be happy unless the spotlight is on him !!!!

......

AGREED - Indeed you ARE missing something here.
SUCCESS does NOT happen overnight - if it did I would have WON the lottery by now

Honda came into F1 with NOTHING, only success in a DIFFERENT era, and a few lawnmowers.

As U have said,  Honda seems to be heading in the right direction .
So U R aware that,  it is NO QUICK fix.

McLaren gave Honda, the thing that you can NOT buy - Mclaren GAVE Honda time.
Time to justify their partnership. Whilst Honda GAVE McLaren DNF`s
During THAT. time.  Mclaren felt that insufficient progress were being made.
So McLaren partnered with, a race WINNING PU

McLaren powered by Renault is NOW a regular points scorer - something that Honda still, is NOT
Indeed it appears that you ARE missing something here.
Renault is STILL performing BETTER than Honda.
Renault has MORE points, points WIN prizes

Silly me, and I thought it is the F1 which claims to have best drivers. Pretty confusing claims, but then considering the source...

The SOURCE is a, MULTI WDC & Le Mans winner - a VERY dynamic source.
Schumacher/Senna MAY have MORE WDC`s but, HAVE only achieved in formula 1

18 June 2018, 08:04 (CEST)  Kobayashi, Sebastien Buemi and Kazuki Nakajima were all winners in the race which is now mere historical footnote, and all of them drove exceptionally well. Nakajima IMO was best from them all, when it was he who made impact in qualifying. Koba was leading the race in a sister car when equipment let him down.

Our reality is shaped by the media, but what the media presents is often determined by personal bias rather than by the factual evidence.  We need to, more often then not, be able to distinguish sense from nonsense, and sensible conclusion is from that race, Alonso did not win Le Mans alone, despite all suggestive headlines we see this morning.

It was rigged by Toyota.

They intentionally over fueled the leading Toyota no. 8 just so Alonso's Toyota can pass them through a 10 secs. Stop go Penalty.

Japanese media are just laughing here. They know it's rigged.

Sad and Dirty Toyota:furious:
