Mclaren-Renault

Recommended Posts

Is this a good move?
For both (McLaren & Renault)?
Now McLaren WILL have direct comparable competition
Red Bull WILL be running with the SAME PU for 1 season at least
If McLaren CAN make it work,  it WILL make Horner look like a
£$%&
How well will this partnership perform?
Will Mclaren return to race winners.  Though regular podiums
is all that is expected - the target

With Bouillier coming out declaring.
Don`t expect the new partnership to perform straight away,
it will take time.  That said, what were the point in paying for the Renault PU.
When could get Honda PU for free, with Honda PAYING Alonso - IF he stays
in F1

If the Honda performs next season.
Boullier is going to look like a fool. Dumping Ron`s hard work,
in bringing back and securing Honda works

What has Boullier to do with Honda leaving FFS? Push for divorce, as described in media sometimes back, was initiated by the team ownership (shareholders), and they were talking to Brown, not Boullier.

What (Racing Dir.) Boullier said in the article is not exactly wrong. I like his following remark:

Quote

“I like it because I am fan of no bulls##t so if you have a team next door with the same engine it means if you don’t beat them something is wrong with the rest of the car. That is perfect.”

(Bold text) This was not always that way when they had MB engine, and despite all claims to the contrary by the supplier, McLaren used to without exceptions blamed the customer-engine for their lack of winning level performance on the track.

McLaren-Renault have the giggles ahead of 2018 season.
Why ARE McLaren soo confident?
Weren`t they ALSO confident when Ron secured Honda WORKS
It IS a good job that Ron secured WORKS status
I`d be asking for a REFUND IF had to pay for that PU
Which IS why it is to be McLaren-Renault

It is customary for team-names to enlist constructor's name first, and then PU maker. I do not know background of this custom, but it is like that for decades, therefore McLaren-whoever.

It IS simple LOGIC.
The team name is listed first BECAUSE it`s the TEAM that IS entered to participate.
THEN who powers the team

Renault, Mercedes and Ferrari are WORKS teams

Is Alonso getting too confident?
Ok so the Honda PU is underperforming at this time, and ever since they returned to F1
He won his WDC`s with Renault power.
Mclaren WILL be powered by Renault in 2018

McLaren WERE powered by Mercedes when Alonso FIRST joined.
Alonso did NOT perform  THEN.  Why should he WHEN Mclaren Renault

Find on this forum a thread "Alonso", and read what his defenders say. I was (well almost) run out of here when I've suggested that Alonso has a lot on his back which is deliberately overlooked. His driving is almost always rated from great to heavenly, regardless how many mistakes he makes. Check last race, or race before that, and he always receives a pass and others are blamed (ask Sainz or Gro), which is why he is known in my circles as St. Alonso, or put it more crudely "Telfonso".

Whilst the Renault is a race winning PU.
It is only JUST better than the Honda.
Obviously signed  to KEEP Alonso.
The Honda represents further potential.
Honda can make greater gains where as the Renault is close to it`s limit.

Prost said (that in his judgement) it will take Renault another two years hence to reach the top. Just in time to start something else as ordered by new feudal lords at the helm.

Second IS; First of the LOSERS

Mercedes are STILL the BEST PU in THIS era

Somebody must surely, be able to  end the Mercedes dominance

Along with  MANY others, I expected Honda to perform,  better than they have - at LEAST

Renault, COULD be on the verge of ending the Mercedes dominance - ONLY time WILL tell

The rewards for, ENDING the Mercedes dominance WILL be, unquantifiable & GREAT

In opinion of a dilettante, the manner F1 entered era of hybrids, virtually guaranteed (and I suspect in full FiA knowledge) unprecedented, and protected dominance of MB w their drivers. It will remain one of the darkest period on sport history as it should. Honda, coming late to the party had no chance to shine under then regulations, as any mistake spelled Titanic class disaster, but today they are improving through learning, so much is true. It is expensive and exhaustive process. Renault is not bad, but investing in crappy Lotus (instead Sauber), was a strategical mistake IMO. Lotus was a depleted warehouse with a name on the front door and it has suck up a lot of cash from the French manufacturer, and for what? They too, as Honda, made some bad decisions in recent years, and it takes time to turn things around. Used to be easier when sanity in regulations was respected state of mind. Renault and Honda might be on the same level this year. Honda will probably face some limitations at TR (drivers, B-team for RBR).

Sakae that IS a LOT of text without really saying ANYTHING
There is NO conclusion to your comment.
All I am  able to make from  it is that.
For all the money in Japan.
Honda (TR, B-team for RBR) will B hoping to challenge the Renault teams.
LAST team/PU (Mclaren Honda) Vs Second-to-LAST team/PU  (TR, Renault)

There is conclusion; read it again. I repeat, in my estimate Honda and Renault probably will be on the par in PU department, however Renault probably will be shining more with McLaren, as opposed to Honda powering TR B-team. The both will be still catching up with Ferrari and MB.
