Hamilton,  voted TOP driver of 2017.

Has NEVER driven anything OTHER than a Mercedes.
Whilst at McLaren, Mclaren WERE the Mercedes works team.
NOW at the Mercedes WORKS team !!

They gave him a best car. He has received a lot of help from all sides.

They protected him from competition for four years.

Now they are voting him the best. A very mouthful statement to make.

Best in what? He didn't look so great in McLaren when that car was on par with others on the grid. It was not bad, but hardly shining performance on his part.

Come on guys....have you taken leave of your senses? In his first year in F1, Hamilton tied two-time world champion Fernando Alonso, who was his teammate. Hamilton won the world championship the following year in a McLaren. Hard to get a much better debut than that. Clearly, Hamilton was always good. Also, Hamilton and Rosberg were teammates for four years. Hamilton clearly has the edge in three out of the four years and one he didn't win he almost won after throwing away 3+ races on bad starts and 3+ races due to mechanical problems.  

Just because you don't like Hamilton and have a driver that you like better than Hamilton doesn't mean that Hamilton is not a great driver. Your arguments are absurd. They show a real lack of maturity.

Asserting that Hamilton is a great driver qualifies as a subjective judgement approximating to an arbitrary value concept. He receives all emotions of his fans by ascribing it and fashion his craft in their own image through personal traits. 

In contrast, assertion that Hamilton was engaged in past four years in a unique racing category, free of substantial competition other than his teammate, is rather based on evidentiary data, free of subjective judgements. Schumacher, just as Vettel in their hight faced competitive environment and they came up on the top.  Not anymore. Not so today, not last year, or year before that. WDC became tainted in unprecedented manner for past four years, and all for protection of a British driver.

Ecclestonne used to yammer how Hamilton is the best representative of F1, and F1, rightly so got taste of it a few days ago. There was a ceremony of Racing Hall of Fame inductees. They all came to attend, but not Mr. Hamilton, who was busy attending a fashion show instead. Nice and "true".

Then where were, Niki Lauda, Mika Hakkinen, Nelson Piquet, Emerson Fittapaldi, Keke Rosberg, Alan Jones, and Kimi Raikkonen? All who were former F1 WDC's who were not in attendance, but only in the case of Lewis seem to bother you.

I am totally repulsed yet amused by the anti- Hamiton bias in some posters. Those posters are obvious and need not be publicly named or shamed. thier bias and stupidity is punishment enough.

Hamilton is the best driver  on the grid and one of the four greatest divers in the history of F1. FACT. Nothing anyone on this silly forum says or intimates will change that fact.
