Bottas has driven brilliantly on the whole this year and undoubtedly deserved the new Mercedes contract that was announced before the German Grand Prix.

Looks like Bottas is save. I've missed the news earlier on.

Niki is recovering from lung transplant. Wow. Unexpected. Get well Niki is probably the least support we can wish him.

Current Force India drivers could be endangered species. Only Haas and McLaren remain open to Ocon and Perez. I'm not sure about RBR.

Papa bought a team, son will become No. 1 driver, and search for domestic support was launched.

F1 is turning into Anglo-American comedy hour.

As per the latest interview from Zak, they are looking for 2 drivers. I am sure if alonso goes to indy, perez is a good option for a seat considering vandoorne is still struggling for form. And looks like Toro rosso wants Norris for Key. So yes they need 2 drivers and good ones are hard to come by. In perez s case he doesnt want to be Stroll s second hand. So i am sure he is looking for a move.

Perez drove for Mclaren , So what, Mclaren has new team principal  and CEO. There is no reason they wont want him

Are Mclaren STILL standing by their claim that they had 1 of the best chassis on the grid,  it were JUST the Honda PU
that CAUSED their difficulties

McLaren and Alonso can claim whatever they want, nobody is listening and makes them look more like clowns .

With Ferrari's engine leapfrogging, Mercedes will now try to squeeze their PU for more power thus affecting their reliability. :scarf:

Indeed,  Ferrari AND Mercedes ARE,  trying to push the envelope more and MORE
Now there IS a BIG player for competition,  Honda
In the background there has ALWAYS been Renault,  ready to pick up left overs and crumbs.
I am  not going to spend time googling it and researching it.
What DID Renault DO when, Alonso won HIS back to back WDC ?
JB won HIS WDC with Brawn, and the blown diffuser
What advances/advantage DID Renault do to DOMINATE THAT period?

Renault purchased Benetton, a team with some really smart people in the design office. People with ideas.

Moreover, engine fights between Renault and Honda are legendary. Many claims Honda won that battle, however I am with Renault. I am also suspicious (no evidence of it) whether Renault's winning streak chased Honda into retreat and out fo the F1.

When Renault left F1 it was said, that it was news only when Renault powered car lost, such was expectancy they were winning and winning.

F1 to Vietnam? Why? How different this is going to be from the Korean (failed) experiment?

Teams do not want more than 19 races, thus it follows, some races on current calendar must be dropped to vacant a slot. Which one are those?

Several teams declared this season too exhausting, which should be avoided in the future. It is for that reason why incorporation of new venues would lead to abandonment of some existing ones. There is of course conflict between Liberty wanting as many races as they can get contract with, and teams which are overworked and exhausted. All that travel, hauling equipment and people isn't of course very cheap. How they are going to manage on reduced budget - as long as travel remains a budget line item - is of course mystery.

True. More races with reduced budget / budget cap will never work properly.

Perhaps they should lengthen the whole series by adding more weeks into the schedule than keeping it from March till November.

They can Start Late Feb, in hotter areas and End Mid Nov. in Hotter ares again.

That may give ample time for logistics.

"Less is more" concept probably applies to F1 as well. F1 is something rare and special, and perhaps (like sex) should stay that way.
