Robert Rick 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2018 Apparently Renault is expecting Sainz to leave by the end of the year. Quote Renault are formulating a contingency plan in the event that Sainz cannot continue with the team next season. But where would he go??? Red Bull have two drivers, Torro Rosso is hardly a place to return to.
Sakae 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2018 18 July 2018, 15:52 (CEST) It is generally accepted, that Sainz is on stand-by to replace Ricciardo, should that one left RBR on his own volition. Should DR decide to stay, so will Sainz with Renault. That's where we are today. If there is something cooking on the back burner we don't know. On personal level I think both drivers will stay where they are. Only large meteor hitting paddock could change my mind. Renault is merely doing their due diligence as one would expect prudent management to do. They have to have a plan B. I can also imagine that there is a deadline for Sainz to make clear his plans and commitments.

Sakae 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2018 19 July 2018, 15:17 (CEST) 1 MB driver re-signing with the team today, other 17 drivers (out of 20) are yet TBC. I do not recall ever similar musical show of such magnitude.
Sakae 0 Report post Posted July 21, 2018 Quote Valtteri Bottas has signed a new deal with Mercedes for 2019, with an option to continue in 2020. Since joining Mercedes at the beginning of 2017 the Finn has scored three Grand Prix victories, but he has yet to win this year, despite a couple of near-misses. 4 down, 16 to go. Sakae 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2018 8 hours ago, BradSpeedMan said: Where does it leave Leclerc? Hmmmm At Sauber for now, with his future uncertain in terms of ever moving up in F1 hierarchy. I am actually not too impressed how drivers's lives are being tossed around. What happened with FI is very unfortunate, yet new owners were standing on sidelines, tight on money, and having Brawn as a chief PR man. Rumor has it, that the helping hand in the recovery deal was a man from the past, known as Ecclestone. What is important IMO is actually something else, not discussed that much, namely, downfall of FI was in the offing for some time, yet what the new owners have done to save the team instead letting it to fall? All what we got out of them is confirmation that there will not be any new entrant on the grid next season.
