Formula 1 Heineken Grande Prémio De Portugal 2020

Recommended Posts

Race: 2020 / 10 / 25

Both MB's drivers decided there is no need for Friday's practice. My suggestion to them, why not sit the race on sidelines, so rest of us can have some fun?

Do Testing Engineers agree with them (or it doesn't matter)?

Alonso might genuinely disagree with MB drivers (he actually wants more testing, and so do I).

Friday - if both drivers couldn't be bothered, how about let juniors to train with T-cars, and show to sponsors some courtesy in promoting their products?

Race - are we going through motions or are there any surprises left this year?

Hulk on standby just in case RP calls. (Makes one wonder why that is needed, if all is fine in the land of RP). Looks like communication between Stroll's family and a team's principal Otmar Szafnauer is not very good, as junior made most likely a liar from him, because Otmar never had trouble to communicate clearly; until now. A sign of things to come? Otmar put brave face on it, but inside I think he was boiling, I imagine. FiA right away was in hurry to close existing loopholes regarding COVID 19 procedures. Can't those guys do anything right first time? It's always catching up.

Verstappen stuck to hard tyres but shot up the leaderboard late on to take third overall, 0.781s slower than Bottas. The Dutchman was one of a number to spin on the new track surface, while his team mate Alex Albon was fifth, complaining of instability at low speed.

Yes, people spin, whereas only Vettel makes mistakes. New normal.

Track looks interesting. I do like it.

Regarding this new on venue track, a lot of positive feedback is heard. I like track angulation, perhaps only because we race maybe far too many flat tracks. The only concern, expressed I think it by Brown, if my recollection is correct, was about potential overtaking difficulties. Fine, he might be right, but don't we have this on majority of tracks? It might not be therefore problem with the track, but something else, and we all know what it is. I would like to see F1 return here next year as well, and in 2026 definitely just to test it under new regulations.

Bottas must feel deflated. I cannot imagine how he feels. LeClerc  has perfect feel for this car, while I am not sure what's going on with Seb, but this year is probably his worst in his whole F1 career. Ocon - not sure what's going on there, but he was prime candidate for top spot once.

I feel for bottas.. but then again, he's against a world champion who is very smart to only show his hand in Q3, while he lets bottas collect any goodwill point he can between Thursday Friday and Saturday.

Outstanding job by Russell! It would be unfortunate to not have him on the grid. He truly deserves that seat alongside Hamilton.

Although I'm critical of Ferrari, I'm at loss of words for what happened in qualy with vettle. Good push by leclerc.

This track seems like a racers track where the man behind the wheel can add more than what they can on other tracks.. somehow I see a Verstappen win coming through.. but then againnnn.. there they are ... those 2 spoil-sport Mercedes.

Bottas deliver`s MORE, so is MORE deservin of that seat alongside Hamilton.
Bottas IS, this era`s DC.  Probably NOT achieve as highly as Rosberg DID though, he IS a good fit.

Who said overtaking will be difficult on this track. Having taken into consideration how many (too many) cars ended a lap down, overtaking is here certainly and sadly in that context possible. I am not going to repeat now reasons for this outrages situations and what has been said n-times already, to state obvious. Management of the F1 deserve  jointly 👎

I like the track. It was green, but next time get an F2 race in the morning, and F1 in afternoon, and it will be one of the iconic venues on the calendar. But first, fix the d*** regulations.

Not his fault, I believe. With what he had he has used it all quite well.

The final point went 2 the highly paid - finger boy, in the works Ferrari, which in reality WOULD B expected.
Kimi also with a highly paid Ferrari contract dumped 2 the sister team.
Ferrari HAS a bunch of highly talented, contracted drivers as well as a highly paid contracted driver - Vettel.
Though seats R limited.

Congratulations to Lewis on his mundane journey to the top of the race winners list.

Great race for Leclerc and Perez.

For me, here is the highlight of the race...

Kimi's first lap: 👌

Says Max...

"I tried to stay out of trouble a bit, tried to settle down. Then I had Kimi behind me. "

"I was shocked about that because I thought:" Am I really going to… like, what's going on? " Kimi was flying, probably his rally driving helped him a bit in the first lap or something because that was pretty impressive. He must have been P6? But anyway, kept him behind, everything settled down," he concluded.

😂 Ah. Brilliant

Would we really know what MORE actually is, unless we put someone else in that seat? For me, personally, 'deserving' would apply to someone who can compete neck to neck with Hamilton for a driver's championship. Bottas is deserving of that seat in Hamilton's eye, coz he doesn't want any competition from the other car in his garage. He has learned his lesson from Rosberg.

In my opinion, bottas is being used as a tool in a very convincing way.. The car they have is way too advanced compared to the rest of the field. They are literally toying with everyone.

NO NEED 2 do THAT - The Mercedes 1-2`s R evidence of, what more IS.
Y would U want 2 put somebody ELSE in there when the maximum IS already bein delivered - just 4 arguments sake ? !!
Qualifyin 1-2
Race finnish 1-2

We DO know what MORE actually IS - MAXIMUM
If it`s NOT broken, then DON`T fix it

Why you ask?

1) Because I am Not Lewis Hamilton.. and for him, the current setup is providing enough for what he wants, and what his team needs.

2) Because I'm bored of NOT watching 2 guys competing for WINNING the races or championships, Like a lot of other fans of the sport. Lewis is definitely not winning based on pure skills, coz If I replace Lewis with lets say, Ricciardo in that Merc, Ric would be winning those races and championships.. And I would love to see more Shoeys!!

3) Coz after having white-washed his team mate, I think a driver like Russel, who has shown some serious credentials in the junior series, deserves a Top seat, but wont.. Coz Lewis wants bottas to stay as the team mate..

4) Merc is in there own league, and I want to see some Racing WITHIN that league, at the least!
