4 cars from 2 stables on a lead time is a story of our time. For some reason I've expected something else from Sebastian. Instead, we are back where it started.

DR finishing behind car 5 is not much of pleasing result for anyone.

Vettel in P5 would have ratify his and team's progress (Ferrari was out of it.) Instead, we get P12

Pierre Gasly has insisted he did not care that Charles Leclerc escaped punishment for their lap one collision that forced the AlphaTauri driver out of the Styrian Grand Prix.

Yeah well, Pierre, Leclerc is not Vettel. Your expectations didn't let you down. That's FiA for you.

Hmm in hind sight, that prediction was off.. I'll take that on my chin.

I was actually quite confident of this outcome after I saw the FP1/FP2 sessions/results and visually both the AM cars seemed to have enough punch to fight midfield. Stroll demonstrated a glimpse of it, I guess I expected more from vettel.

Oh well.. The next race is also on the same track, so hopefully AM and vettel will prove me there..

I still hold on to my views about the fact that AM has the speed to be competitive against the midfield.

Based on Vettel's after race comments, I don't see, or can think about anything which would make me believe that last race was just one off. Car is at midfield level, and if tires go bye bye, so goes race too. I would be surprise if we see next race anything else. He seems to do well in city races. Speedsters - not so much (yet).

Driver of the day...

I can't view the vid. I suppose you're referring to Leclerc.... Who made mistake and THEN ended up in EXACTLY the SAME POSITION he started the race with. How convenient

It was a mistake, one which he realised, and One that he corrected. This,, while displaying pure grit to atleast end up in the same place as he started. It's was not just about where he ended back at, it's HOW he reached there after he lost it all, as to why fans loved it. In his own words it was one of his best performances..

He would be really fired up after this one.. If he avoids any silly mistakes, and Considering Ferrari had decent pace for the long run.. it would be intriguing to see what he can pull off in the next race..

After FP3

It looks like AM drivers could make Q2, borderline Q3.

Yuki is good, talented, but for a Japanese guy unusually temperamental. As someone said, would yoga help to calm him down? I rather doubt it. He needs 2 years with a good team, like Verstappen. That will do it.

Is Kimi retiring?

AM drivers are in Q1, however hard to say it's on merit. Grid is chaotic. Ferrari for example are out of place, and so on. In any case, I take it. It was not a bad day.

My error. I should have said in Q3. (Not Q1)

Regarding the other stuff...I find Korean dramas somewhat more pleasing.

I've passed the angry barrier some time ago. Vettel was also awarded another 1 demerit point over and above 3 places pushback on the starting grid.

What an Unfortunate scuffle for Fernando. He was really starting to show some good pace in qualy. P3 in Q1 was mighty impressive. Q3 could have been very fruitful.

That was a pretty unsafe block by vettel, unknowingly I realize. But In all fairness the penalty is deserved and handed to team more than driver... AM were caught napping on the pit board, vettel unfortunately got to face the down side of it after a good qualy session.

I do suggest before you critique Vettel (again), that you first pick up some reading on the subject. Vettel did not blocked Alonso as you claim, safely or otherwise. Not all media like facts, and vilification of this German driver is their favourite past time. Vettel has merely followed protocol agreed and accepted by all drivers. Vettel is a clear victim in this mess whoever got ball rolling, but FiA cannot be bothered. Drivers or a team - no problem for them. Vettel lost position and got another penalty point on his crime-sheet. This almost certainly would not happen to some other drivers.

Drivers who broke that agreement actually were let go Scott free by the same FiA officials. Alonso absolved Vettel from any wrongdoing.

Vettel DID block Alonso, UNKNOWINGLY.. please don't believe me.. you can watch the replay of what happened...

I too realize it was not his fault.. and that penalty is..

......

Any suggestions that vettel is being targeted or whatever, is I'll founded,, stewards would have taken a similar action against Alonso if the roles were reversed, and that too would have been fair...

I realize all these notions are purely arriving from a subjective point of view..

Oh really, like they let Bottas and Sainz off the hook, after they cause the incident in the first place

Vettel knowingly did NOT impede Alonso
