Monty 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2005 Trulli has always impressed in qualifying, and if I'm not mistaken he has outpaced Alonso (perhaps I'm wrong) many times while driving for Renault. And this year he has been extremely impressive, getting the first podium finish for Toyota, and getting his car right behind the impressive Renault. This leads to 2 hypothetical questions : 1. Had Jarno been with Renault, would he have been pole and Alonso behind him? 2. Did Renault make a mistake by letting him go? Do you think his presense may or may not have helped Renault in WDC? Do you think his presense may or may not have helped Renault in WDC? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> FA has allways said that JT is the best racer on the grid at qualifying (yesterday he said JT was going to be the bigest rival at qualifying). Anyway FA used to be at fast as JT in qualifying but over a race distance the spaniard is (in my opinion) fairly better than the italian. FA drives allways to the limit from first to last lap meanwhile JT is not that strong. Now JT is calm and motivated at Toyota but i still remember his last races last year, he was awfull
Jenson_Rules 0 Report post Posted April 2, 2005 He was quite poor in the last races with renault but heh all drivers have moments, he was very poor in magny cours letting that b#####d ferrari of RB past! But I think JT thrives in toyota and will always do well, dont forget he was looking for a win here in bahrain with toyota so he will do well! It is obvious FA is just amazing and will be a WDC in no time, JT will always have been and is a good driver but just dosnt have trhat extra bit the likes of FA, KR, MS, JB have

Sato 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 trulli was crap after the first part of the season last year, thats why he got told to look elsewhere. Fisi struggling? now thats what i like to see!
Buttonfan 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 Well two straight races, alonso and trulli 1 and 2, but I wish Fisi was not struggling these past two races, Renault had a chance to finish second last year but got rid of Trulli and got Villenueve and could not score any more points, i dont want Fisis to struggle and leave it up to Alonso to score the points
Max Mosley 2 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 At the moment, none of those drivers, with the exception of Michael could challenge FA. There is FA and M$ atm, and maybe JT, then there is the rest. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes I agree with that. JPM and JB aren't quite that good yet. For me the biggest disappointment so far has been KR he just doesn't look in the same league as FA atm. I think that in the same team MS would still at least match FA but its going to be great to see more battles between those two this year. I really think this could be the year someone surpasses MS (for the first time in a decade!!).

Max Mosley 2 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 I wouldn't put Ralf that high up myself. I don't think Kimi's done that well this year. I know MS hasn't either but he looked much better today.

Taku 0 Report post Posted April 3, 2005 at the moment it looks like the top 4 drivers are alonso, trulli, ralf, and kimi <{POST_SNAPBACK}> really, ralf? not imo anyway. most of you have forgotten kimi (not u obviously b_fan) in the mclaren that is working it's way to the front. after a disastrous couple quali's they are up towards the front now and should stay there. imagine how well they would be doing if they didn't have to spend half their race fighting through the midfield. renault have had it easy and i think the mclaren's are level with toyota. driver class should get them closing this gap in a few gps. whilst trulli is doing well now wait till montoya and kimi are on song (or even pedro!).
